Hello, I am new and just starting a tank. As a gift , I have a Waterbox X 60.2 tank. The actual tank size is 36 gallons, and all the under tank storage /filtration tank compartments is another 24 gallons. So i guess thats where the 60 comes into play from Waterbox as a total capacity of 60 Gallons. So once i go through the lengthy cycling change and am ready to get fish. Since i am going to have to get my fish size to live in a max of 36 gallons or because the total water of the system is 60 gallons, i wont be limited to 1-3 inch size fish? Verse maybe a smaller Tang or something that will need to be like small neons or something in a freshwater tank?

Welcome to R2R!
Unfortunately the main tank needs to be bigger to fit fish like tangs. They love to swim. The total volume only helps with stability of your system.. Hope this helps!

Welcome to R2R!

If you get small tangs and don’t feed them too much, They will out grow your tank in about a year and half and then you will need to rehome.

tangs, anthias, puffers, , rabbitfish and similar will not work. However, you can have a nice colony of fish such as Banghai cardinal, clowns, firefish gobies, flame angel and other small type fish. Limit it to 8-10 fish.
