Well after 2 years and 2 months my Red Sea max260e finally sprung a leak. From what I been reading this is not surprising. They offered me a replacement G3 reefer 300. But I am very hesitant in any rimless tanks. Would I be a fool to accept their offer and put the MSRP of the 300 to a reefer 525 G3. It’s euro braced and, obviously larger. Any one have any experience with the new G3 reefer series?

Oof, I’m sorry for your loss… tank failures are basically worst-case scenario in this hobby…

These older max series tanks (2016 US introduction) actually don’t get reported failures too often! Are you the original owner?

The Reefer G3 series has only been out for a few months now. So far, there are no confirmed reports of these tanks bursting at the seams which I know of…

I was the original owner. Bought it in early 2024. Red Sea has been good to me. Sent the video of the leak and so far smooth sailing. All my livestock, rock, sand and corals are currently at my LFS. They have also been great. It is disheartening to have this experience but I am hooked on the hobby. Thanks for the response

They have a good reason to fix their tanks, these problems are killing their reputation. Id say the gen 3 would be worth giving it another try.
