You mentioned that the tank came with "all the proper equipment", but in addition to the pump I didn't see a mention of lights or a protein skimmer (if you plan to use one). You likely will receive recommendations on this thread about pump brands and sizes, but you may want to list all of your components that you do have, including the brands and models, and ask what else you may be missing. If you don't get adequate feedback here in this thread, you can always post a thread titled: "what pump should I get?" or a "what am I missing?" and that will get more than enough feedback. Cheering for you!

Very good point. Doesn’t come with lots of things.
- heaters
- wavemakers
- lights
- protein skimmer
- in sump refugium (going to try a DIY Display Refugium that I’ve been toying with. Stay tuned )
Will post specs when I get those. Have a lot of thinking to do before I get the lights. Was thinking a black box but, as I said, haven’t decided yet).

I didn’t even know there were different pumps. I just assumed that you buy the pump based on the size of the tank and sump? So it seems strange that it doesn’t come w the system. Looks like o have a lot to learn ...

I’m sure I already replied to this but it looks like it didn’t post? Ignore this if it’s a repeat...

It doesn’t actually include ALL equipment. Doesn’t include
- lights
- protein skimmer (definitely getting one)
- heaters (I have several)
- wavemaker (I have Powerheads that will do for now but want a decent wavemaker in the near future)
- refugium (considering a diy Display Refugium. Stay tuned for a glorious victory or bitter defeat. Lessons to be learnt lol)
- and of course the pump. Assumed pump was just based on volume of water in the system but I have a feeling I’m mistaken. Goody.

Will post specs once available :)

@Bulk Reef Supply probably can answer that one for you. If they don't get back to you here, they are pretty good about answering questions on their website if you message them there.

You can just summon BRS? Just like that?!? What is this place?

@Peace River - I’d be happy to share feelings as I go. There will be delays, frustrations, triumphs, and obstacles galore. Can’t wait

Lesson 1: always ask for a detailed list of everything included in the price of a system. The one I bought includes stand, tank, sump, ATO, filter socks and media. No pump. Is that even a thing?!? How does it not include a pump? Bit early to fudge the budget but I have a feeling it’s one of many lol

Otherwise feeling super excited and can’t wait to get started.
Lesson #1 in the saltwater hobby... budgets are a figment of ones imagination. Lol just like boat owners. Boat stands for Break out another thousand. That same phrase can hold very true in this hobby.

We’ll call that lesson 2

Well, I'm in the middle of a build. By the time I'm finished getting everything I need/want I will probably be in the ballpark of 10-12k before any livestock hits the tank. The bank account isnt dwindling. Just a mere temporary fluctuation, if you will.

Yes...temporary fluctuation. I’ll pitch that to the husband who had to be convinced to spend 5,000 (before fish) and who has now accepted it’ll be $6,000
