Hi I bought new tank which is double size to what i currently have. Planning to swap them next weekend. How would you recommend it so i won’t have too much trouble?
Currently 112 gallon full of coral, fish. New tank will be 2 feet away from existing one. I will add some Caribsea rock and new sand.
Should i put some old sand in? I do vacuum my sand all the time so it’s pretty much clean. Thx for any help!!!

You are going to get many different opinions. Personally I’d recommend seeding the new tank with live rock and sand as much as possible. Then wait for it to fully cycle. Then transfer over things

Hopefully I'll be swapping this year as well. My plan is to add a nice bit of rocks to my sumps for a month before I start up the next tank, then swap those over with all new sand while I add ammonia and wait for it to cycle. Then Ill transfer over all my display rocks with corals, but still no sand.

I am swapping tanks as well. Going to order Tampa Bay Saltwater rocks and sand. Hopefully it cycles well. I’ll have both tanks running for a few months.

I suppose it depends on how stocked you are right now. You could always test ammonia frequently and be prepared to do water changes. I'm going to just let the new tank cycle because I won't be in a rush.
