Any reason why your going away from the Zeostart as a carbon source?
Likely costing for larger system? Let me know.

In my old tank i had a higher no3 level than i want have.
So i want try if it helps me to reduce this with my own mix.
If it not brings what i expect i gonna use the zeostart.

Kind regards

I'm in a similar situation. I used the old XL pellets from Reef Interests and now they have only AIO XL pellets and they won't work as the old ones, in addition the old ones I still had to tackle Po4 while No3 was easily undetectable.

So thought about going back to VSV as I did years back, not even sure anymore why I changed lol.
So I remember having issues with Cyano while using certain sugars in the mix.
At the end I used simply Vodka with some Vinegar an no more sugar with the results of crisp water, because most sugars superpopulate a lot of heterotrophic white bacteria.
Honey sounds interesting, but I know Honey is contaminated with bacteria you will then bring into the tank as well and into the solution where they can grow nicely.

I used only for a while Zeostart as carb source before I started the pellets, hence not sure how the nutrient balance would have turned out on the long run. I do see more and more folks going away from the new Zeostart.

No we prepare a stand of the 2 units.
The id is to use one unit for waterchanges.
The other unit we gonna use to connect directly on the tank.
So no ro tank needed anymore.

Kind regards,

wesley
