I would like an indication of a pump that I could use outside the aquarium to automate my water change. The idea is a pump with hoses on both sides that allow me to insert it into a gallon of salt water and the other end to connect to the sump. Could anyone help me with this? Thanks

That would need a self priming pump and I don't know of any small ones for saltwater use.
A self priming pump can pump the air out of the hose and draw the liquid it moves in.
