TBS Hitchhiker ID

While doing my routine maintenance I noticed the cone on this thing close! I thought it was just a dead barnacle or something for the longest time. Out of curiosity I blasted it with a turkey baster and much to my surprise the whole thing moved! I then noticed there is another cone on the opposite side. Anybody know what the heck it is? Id say its about 1.5 inches wide.

My guess is barnacle too (good) or maybe a rock boring spionid worm (bad).

Can barnacles be soft though? The whole almost deflates for a second when I blast it with water

I went though everything but nothing looked like it was a match

Good point. I'd say sponge but I don't think any can move...

Tunicates is more likely based on the description.

Tunicates do seem possible, I'll try to see if I can find any brown ones

Most likely a sea squirt - reef safe filter feeders.

Tunicate (e.g., sea squirt). They can do fine in your tank but are susceptible to getting overtaken by algae if you don't have algae in check. Bubble algae suffocated one of mine.
