My heater has been incorrectly calibrated apparently. I just accidently moved the calibration ring. I though I was running at 78 F but I’m at 80.5. I’ve got my controller set to 79F now. Will a 1.5 F drop kill anyone or hurt anything or should I change the temp on my controller?
Just got the controller for reference

You'll be fine. Unless you have a chiller on, it will drop to that temp slowly.

Is 79 a proper temp to run my reef at? I’ve got LPS ans tons of zoa. My corals were doing ok at 80.5 save some zoa who were getting darker.

80.5 isn't going to hurt anything. There's lots of opinions about temperature. I was running my tank at 83f for a while to deal with dinos and now just keep my tempature 79-80...

I have my temp differential at -/+ 1F with it set at 79F. Is that an ok temp differential? That’s a fine a difference as I can get with this temp controller.

That's fine, mine is 1F interval as well. Goes to 80, turns off drops to 79 turns on.. repeat.

Some people may be concerned about if it warms up to fast but I havnt had many issues with that, even with a 500 watt heater in a 10 gallon.. would go from 75f to 79f in minutes during a water change.

Some tanks have a full 2 degree temp swing between day and night, with no impact on livestock. Acceptable temp ranges are 76-83, though most recently, experts recommend 76-80. In a recent R2R poll, a majority of members were running 78.
