what is the best temperature to keep a reef tank at? I'm currently in the cycling stage and have been running it at 85 f for right now. Iv heard 79 f is best.

My tank usually varies between 76-85 throughout the year, but it probably averages about 78-82 on a daily basis.

You'll get lots of theories. Personally I keep mine at 80 but you'll hear lots of others. More important is stability throughout the day.

I've learned that being consistant is best. My system is really happy at 78.
If the temp goes above 78, then my cooling fans come on. If my tank dropps below 78 then my heaters come on.

anybody else have to keep there heaters way lower than the set temp. i have 2 hydror 300 watt heaters for my 125 but only have to keep them both at around 65 to keep the tank at 80. is this normal?
