Hi Terry,
Love your setup and basement has turned out great. Are you using the standard 1.5 inch drains on your bean animal? What size return hose are you using and i see it tees off at the top of your tank? At the top of your tank is that same diameter or did you restrict it from their?
Thanks in advance.

1.5" drains, 1" return split into two 3/4" pipes.

Hey terry

Love your build!!

Any issues running just the single overflow pvc on your low boy 50?

Thanks

No issues at all. I have a grate over the box, to keep anything large from obstructing the drain.

Quick update. With pictures.

I did a water change on both the 180, and 25. I also moved some of the big colonies from my frag tank (Monti's, bird's nest) into the 420. Everything looks great.

I also built cabinets over the 420 so I can access it from the front. As we get ready to finish the basement.

Terry

I love your tank, and am a dedicated viewer of your YouTube updates. It’s really served as an inspiration for my build.

I just picked up a second gyre xf250 grad and am having the same issues you had with the shadow overflow box surging during the gyre OGC setting. I plan to fix the issue with a new, better designed overflow, since my surging issue is due to the e-drain being activated- which is worrisome for a BA. I also hoped to reconfigure the programming and saw that you had a program you developed that works great for you.

I was hoping you could maybe describe the program, or provide some hints? I’d love to run my opposing gyres without stressing that I’m running water down my e-drain and losing a failsafe.

Thanks!

Love the videos!!

I don't have a good solution for you. I am still experiencing the same issue with the Gyres and the overflow. I try to keep the level in my external box low enough (without being so low it becomes loud) that when the water surges, it doesn't go down the e-drain. I end up playing with the gate valve more often than I'd like.

That’s too bad, thanks for the response.

I’m stuck in that position where I either run the water level low, and suffer from hearing the niagra falls constantly, or running it higher and getting frequent surges as the e-drain activates. It’s down to the poor design of the box so I’m hoping a new one will get it all back to silent.

Thanks again!

Your 180 is one of my favorite tanks on r2r and the 420 looks great.

How did you attach the kessils the fixture? Did you just drill a hole and use a bolt from the top of the fixture?

I would like to know too. Also how did you hang the fixture? Did it have the brackets or you had to come up with the solution? is it this fixture, but longer? MH 24" Metal Halide T5 Aquarium Light Coral Reef Marine 250W Bulb Lamp LED 346W

Hi terry

Love the way you plumbed your low boy frag tank into your system. I'm curious if you know how much water turnover is getting through it? Just through the input and the output- not the powerhead.

I have a fairly similar setup and wasn't wondering what I should aim for in terms of Turnover. I plan to supplement with a powerheas for additional flow

Thanks!

I am actually not sure. It is not a ton, maybe a few hundred gph. There is a Jebao powerhead in there that provides most of the turnover.

I just drilled holes in the top of the light fixture and ran bolts through the holes and screwed into the top of the Kessils.
