I’ve been in the hobby since 2002. In 2022 I shut everything down and stepped away. The primary reason was the deplorable state of the supply chain issues.

As we started 2024, I felt the itch to get back in but it had to be different. We had moved and I had sold all my aquarium “treasures”. So set up a new tank but this time it was only to be captive bred livestock. Everything! Fish, Corals, Inverts even live rock. So I wanted to share some of my awesome fish. I must thank @Biota_Marine ; Poma Labs and @SurgeMarineLife for all the help and amazing livestock.

Absolutely gorgeous fish. It's encouraging to see so many captive breed fish on the market today.

Very nice! I have a similar philosophy and also have all captive bred livestock. Is that a captive bred conspicuous angelfish??? 🤩 I'm curious what size tank you have, what are all the captive bred fish you have in it, and how they all get along. Also if any of them bother your corals. I'm upgrading my tank soon and will be able to get a few more captive bred fish, wondering which ones to get!

Also, I have one cautionary tail. I learned the hard way that some fish that you can’t trust all retailers when buying captor bread fish. I purchased what truly was a Red regal angel from a very reputable online retailer, but it infected my tank with velvet. On further questioning the retailer he mixes his captive bred fish with wild caught fish in the same systems. So you largely lose the benefit of the captive bred nature. So for this reason, I only have a very few select entities where I’ll purchase a fish if I’m looking for captive bread.

Thats awesome!!! You must have a pretty big tank. How many gallons?

I try to buy direct from Biota for that same reason. I did buy two captive bred clownfish from the LFS but luckily didn't bring in any infection with them. In hindsight I don't think I'd do that again.
