Hello all,

I am wondering if I have the premade frozen fish food; can I that it and save it for multiple feedings ? The larger cubes seem like they could be too much?
2 clowns. 1 bicolor blenny, snails, shrimp goby pair and a yellow wrasse.

I feed pellets also.

Is DIY food okay? I have been wondering about trying frozen shrimp/ canned clams etc but not sure if those are okay and or what else for my tank in specifics.

I haven’t made my own food but I do use the frozen hikari mysis mix and I thaw it with some tank water and feed half one day and the other half the next. I just store it in the fridge between feedings and haven’t had any problems.

Canned clams are not a good food as they are cooked, but fresh or frozen clams are IMO the best food you can use.

Frozen shrimp is also not the best food as it is only the muscles of the shrimp and not the guts where the nutrition is.

You can cut those frozen cubes in half without thawing them out.

It will lose nutritional value whenever frozen and unthawed. Your best bet would be to break up the frozen cubes with sometthing (maybe a small hammer?). I tend to prefer the flat sheets of frozen food for this reason. However, I usually prefer quality flakes or pellets when possible due the likely easier digestion (thus greater energy return) and diversity of ingredients.
