Some updates!

Tank is wet and fully cycled.

First round of fish/inverts ordered from @Dr. Reef, everything is paid for so hopefully we get everyone shipped out this week.

Starter Corals in the tank thanks to @REEFTIDE I originally planned to introduce corals later this month, but a sale's a a sale and these guys look super healthy and have been looking great for a relatively young tank.

Also got this super sweet custom lid from Octo Aquatics (@cromag27) fits like a dream and working with Matt was super simple and the quality of the lid is top notch. No body jumping through this bad boy.

So, first batch of fish coming in here in a couple of days which is super exciting can't wait to have some swimming critters back in this tank! If all goes well I might just turn around and have @Dr. Reef start working on my second batch.

I'm happy to see those frags doing well for you! 40 Breeders are my absolute favorite tanks, I'm gonna have to follow this build!

Easily my favorite build thread that I’ve come across so far! The amazing tank you built over the last several years, the awesome photos and storytelling throughout, the sad ending due to The Great Freeze, and now the glorious Phoenix rising from the ashes. So enjoyable. Thank you for sharing (and for offering your advice on one of my threads!).

What made you decide to go from a sumpless system to a sump system now?

I really hate seeing cords in the tank, and with the sump I was able to run a refugium which was something that I wanted to passively handle nitrate and phosphate instead of me doing water changes.

40 breeder is well under way. Definitely in the brown uglies stage but the refugium has actually been working over time to keep the diatoms and hair algae at bay.

System is has been running ALK @ 8.3-5dkh with my Nitrates @ ~5-6ppm (Hanna High Range Checker) and Phosphates ~.02ppm. If we can stay within those parameters in the long term we'll be golden.

One thing I'll note about the Caribsea life rock is that most of the purple has faded away, so I might look for some purple up the next time I'm at the LFS to give my coraline algae a boost.

Several coral purchases from TSA, and WWC have really let this tank take shape, and now I'm just going to let these current pieces I have grow out and maybe add a few choice collector pieces (still on the hunt for a really nice gold torch and I'd also like to look into a scolly, but we'll see what happens.

I've made a second order with Dr. Reef for the next batch of fish for the system which will come some time in the next month or two I'd wager. Looking to add a Yellow "Coris" Wrasse, a Pintail Wrasse, an Oranged Striped Goby, and a Royal Gramma to round out the stocking for the tank.

Current stock includes:
2x Black Ice Clowns
1x Starry Blenny
1x Cleaner Shrimp
Assorted Cuc
