You're gonna have wires near the water regardless bc of your equipment thats submerged but I agree about the setup you have on the right side.. too close for comfort for me lol

As for your plumbing, I think it looks okay. What's the extra piece on the top right side tho? Something you may add in additionally later on?

Also, what kind of skimmer do you have?

Yep. If I want to add manifold for reactors later. Just put the tee there in case..

The skimmer is a Simplicity 120dc..

I've been looking at the wiring too.. i may move the DJ powerstrip up to the top.. it's harder to see the switches when looking in the side cabinet but peace of mind keeping it away from water would be worth it.

Thanks for the input everyone!

Needless to say the glass baffles from lowes are a little sharp..

I feel like since my blood will be in the aquarium now, my fish and I will bond better.. that makes sense, right??

Glass sands pretty easily. since you started painting it red ;) did you paint and/or seal the inside of the tank just in case of a leak?

Awesome build! However, im a little confused on the T pipe on the right. I understand its if you want reactors and what not but why not just plumb them in?

Looking good! I like the red accents inside the stand! ;)

What did you use to attach your rocks to one another? Is it working well?

Did you get your stand and tank level?

Looking Good! The 'tricity looks to be in a better position. Hows the hand?
Cheers! Mark

Yeah the 'tricity is a lot better up top.. It'll help me sleep a little better at night! The hand is doing great! Now I can truly say I've put sweat, blood, and tears into this job ;)

Nice thread. I really enjoy seeing your progress ... and the process.

Thanks! so glad to know people are following along!

I don't have any yet.. not sure if I understand your question!

The red accent is definitely a nice touch ;)
I used quikrete water-stop cement.. It worked well enough.. Some places it stuck very well and others cracked off when I barely moved the rocks. This could very well be user error too though as I'm not the concrete master. I made a huge mess. Some of mixes I made were too dry and others too watery.
I decided to go with shims against what deep blue said.. After reading around on the forums, I decided that I felt shims were a safer way to go because in theory, a leveling mat would not support those areas that were not level, but just fill in open space, if I explained that correctly

Question about pods.. what do they feed off of? I know they eat phytoplankton but would they die in a new system like mine? Is a pod population something I could add early on or should i wait a few months?

Notice anything new??
The ammonia and nitrites have been at 0 for 4 days now.
so today I got 2 Fancy Clowns. I believe a percula-ocellaris hybrid! Love the vivid colors. Also a few snails and hermits. I'm going to keep a close watch on these guys and make sure everything is good for another couple of weeks and then start working on stocking it the rest of the way! We'll see what's next! I have some ideas.
And bump to my post before about the pods!^^

Not much new with the tank.
The clowns love having 57 gallons all to themselves..
Started growing chaeto in the refugium and my pods from algaebarn are coming in later this week. Get a jump start on a population before i get a couple of wrasses in the tank!

The next fish will probably be a melanurus wrasse.

Then hopefully a potters angel.

Who knows after that.. yellow coris wrasse? Orchid dottyback? Decisions, decisions!
