I found this beauty on my recent trip to SF! I can finally say I have seen one with my own eyes. If anyone else wants to see one, they have a single one at the Steinhart Aquarium.

It must be an incredible feeling and a huge thrill to be able to see the Holy Grail in person!

Here is my little guy. Bought him at almost an inch from Biota. Had a bad case of dinos. Now working hard to get this tank stabilized. All my fish are doing well. Dinos finally eradicated. Purple Masked angels do great in this 100 gallon tank. His name is Bandit

Finally bit the bullet and introduced my two philippine collected shepards angels. I’d gotten them over the summer. During acclimation they shown a great deal of hostility despite their small size so one stayed in QT while the more pugnacious one went in the display.

It was a rough couple of days that included a blanket black-out over the aquarium. But, they finally gelled. There’s a notable size difference between the two.

I'm hopeful they'll settle down and function as a pair. They still quarrel but they're not doing any damage to each other now.

Your guy is gorgeous. The Shepards' angel is an overall pretty interesting fish. Shepards angels proper - from Guam - are likely an amalgamation of the rusty, flame and coral beauty hybrid populations in the past. When you consider the distribution of the three species overlapping in the Philippines, and then the geologically active Mariana's arch, and then the true Shepards distribution at the extreme Eastern edge of the Philippine Sea, well its fun to imagine how they came to be. Our guys may never get the full body glow or the blue blotching by the pectoral fin but I can easily live with that. The one in QT had a bunch of zoas with him, never touched them. The one is the display has also been a model citizen with all kinds of lps.

@Boreas_SA your tigerpype is gorgeous. I love those violet accents in his face. Your Masked Swallow Tail is also lovely. Its one I've coveted for a long time. I was considering doing a pair/trio as the center piece in my 155 sps display but my buddy talked me down citing size. I still hope to work with them some day.
