Hello all!

I am not new to reefing. I currently have a innovative marine drop off peninsula that I am revamping. It was a mixed reef with a few sps and tons of LPS. Over the summer I went on several vacations and maintenance got away from me. I developed a aptasia problem when one turned into hundred effectively killing every coral in my system while I waited for aptasia eating Nudis to take hold. So I broke the tank down threw the rock out and was going to get out of the hobby. That’s when I decided that I wasn’t going to let this discourage me from a hobby that I have come to love. So I moved my fish to a 10 gallon tank while I completely cleaned out my main tank got new dry rock and rebuilt a rock scape and started over.

This leads me to this thread. My new build thread. While deciding what direction I want to head in with this rebuild I decided I wanted to start a new thread since it was pretty much a new build.

I had 4 different types of coral survive the aptasia attack of 2019, 3 Gonis and a GSP frag. With a empty rock scape an practically no corals I was trying to decide what direction I wanted to head with this revamp. The other day I made my decision. This tank is going to be primarily a Gonipora tank with a few other “filler” LPS corals.

I’ve always loved Gonis and have had great success keeping them. I also wanted to focus on a specific species of coral to avoid coral ware fare in a small system. The decision came easy as 3 out of the surviving 4 corals are gonis.

So here is my current setup:
Tank is a 20 gal innovative marine peninsula drop off
Light : echo tech marine radios gen 4
Water movement: 2 MP10 wqd
In tank media basket
Eshopps nano protein skimmer
2016 apex with salt, orp, ph, and temp probes
10 gal ato
Neptune apex ATO
2 heaters
Spin stream return nozzle

I have approx 15 pounds of dry rock and half a block of marine pure cut into smaller pieces.

Bare bottom

Live stock:
Flame hawk fish
Long nose hawk fish
File fish
Scooter bleny
Coral beauty

Coral:
Pink goni
Green goni
Purple Goni
GSP

Tank parameters
Alk: 7.6
Calcium: 425
Mag: 1600
Phosphate: 0
Nitrate: 1

I’m currently battling the new tank uglies with what appears to be green turf or Matt algae. The tank was restarted at the end of November so it’s been up for about 1.5 - 2 months. I lost no fish during the new cycle and feed 1 small cube of food a day.

Like I said this will be dominated by All different types of Gonipora and Alevapora with a few “filler” type corals like zoas , GSP ect......
