I have been at this a very long time and have been badly shocked quite a few times. If you keep a powerhead long enough, the cord cracks near the motor and you gat 110 volts in the water. Usually that trips the circuit but not always. I have also had powerheads crack supplying power to the tank but that is not much of a concern any more as I think the newer ones have that down to a science. But that is not a big concern that would stop me from using line voltage powerheads. I just mentioned it because it was asked in this thread
