I guess if yours only looks like that after a few weeks of running a neck cleaner isn't necessary, but some of us with real skimmers require them ;) :p

Thanks for posting! Just doesn't have the same poetic look I'm afraid. I see a messy mess of a mess:p.

Hey Adam, you really got me interested in a Deltec, which model would you recommend for 420 gallons of total volume heavy load?

Ok now your talking! You will not be disappointed Rik I guarantee. This buildup took about two weeks at the most. I have really come to take it for granted but man do these things skim like no other. I mean i am very used to seeing this now.

I was sure I'd get a slew of loyal and faithful Lifereefers or Curvies even, posting pics and insisting I was full of it by now, but alas. nothing.... I mean where are the trash talkers? Someone wants tell me downdraft is the king, or that their DIY will put this to shame. Let's see it.
I went with the Deltec 1350 from your recommendation and I love it great skimmer. If and when I move up to a bigger tank I'll be seeing you

That is great to hear man. Glad the Deltec is taking care of business! These things are hard to beat.

Yeah I don't know why I am still so fascinated by stuff like this, but every time I clean this thing I say to myself, "you gotta get a pic of that"

Well, today I did.

Folks, here is the neck of my hard working Deltec 1455 just before a thorough cleaning. I mean this "crap" is off the charts. Another week or two and she'd be closed up completely I'm sure. The deposits are thick and powdery

So, all you fans and believers of your beloved other skimmers. Do your necks look like this? I'm asking really! Lets see some pics. I want to see some proof!

Roll out the troll mobiles, call me an idiot, and put me in my Deltec loving place!

Neck cleaner is a must.
Neck stays squeeky clean but nothing else does.
My neck cleaner motor recently died and running without it the neck gets coated in such thick sludge that itll stop skimming. :(

This is my most hated chore, as popping open the lid smells like popping the cover off a full septic tank in 100 degree florida heat :confused:o_O
