I received a little end-of-year bonus at work, so I insinuated to my husband that I'd love to upgrade the living room 55 gallon to a Red Sea 350 or similar tank. He agreed wholeheartedly, and I even started and shared a list with him :face-with-tears-of-joy: ...

It's all a ruse. I'm using the extra income to fund a new deck/back porch, which has been on our to-do list for at least 3 years, but we keep putting it off for weather, travel, life, etc.

Anyone else ever surprised your partner with a "I'ma drop several K on a tank, but NOT REALLY!"

A new tank to replace the 55 is in the cards soon, just not in the next couple months yet. :)

Haha that’s so cool! We need progress reports and pics!

well around here that would be " surprise, i bought the lumber grab your screwgun and get your butt outside"

LOL! Carpentry was his first job, so technically speaking I could go that route lol. But in reality, it'd take months, probably several arguments, and I'd like my deck back before grilling season. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

In a case of "Well have your cake and eat it, too" WHY NOT HAVE BOTH?! Deck ended up being partially covered by insurance thanks to recent storms, so we're getting a new deck AND I get the upgrade sooner rather than later.
