The Hawaiian Strawberry Crab is NOT reef safe (OctoAquatics The Beecher)

I purchased 3 Strawberry crabs reading they are reef safe and won’t harm your corals, I added them yesterday afternoon to wake up and find my Beach Bum Monti scratched up and a chunk out my TGC Jojo’s Rainbow missing. Had to catch them and throw them in The Beecher laying around.

Crazy as I really like them and have had them in my system for years and never once witnessed them messing with anything whatsoever.

The two pain in the butt critters in my system are the Cleaner shrimp (always stealing food from coral) and a Tiger Pistol shrimp. That thing can move a lot of sand in short time and bury corals.
Both aren't gonna make the cut when I get my bigger system up n running.

I guess it’s a hit and miss with these guys or any crabs with claws, you’re lucky because they’re good looking crabs

I've had one for three years now and have never had an issue. I would say you are right in that it's a hit and miss deal with anything we put in our tank. Mine actually had a baby but I don't think it made it when I transferred everything from my 75g tank to the 150g two years ago. Right now, she's building a nest which is what she did when she had the one baby. I'm hoping that's what she's doing the nest for... really neat.
