Back from vacation and had a ton of salt creep on the edges of the tank and the sump. Not sure if it was from me putting in an extra gallon or two to try and avoid running lower on vacation?

Some more tests this morning. Believe this is day 10.

Ammonia down to 0ish (color is yellow I think). Less bright Nitrates, so around 1 and a ton of Nitrates >50.

Another day and more tests. Looks like my ammonia is gone. It is completely yellow and 0. Nitrite is also coming down nicely, now around 0.5, and still have the nitrate. I’m beginning to plan my first fish/inhabitant of the tank and I have been looking at a few clowns, watchman goby, and bicolor angel. I have my qt tank ready and may go pick one of them up today and start the qt process.

First fish selection and photos

Did a little dip and quarantine for a few days. Fish looked good and decided to add him to the display.

Meet Larry the bicolor angelfish

Looks like I am going to be moving in a few weeks. Thinking of making a change to a different size tank after moving since this one was specifically designed for the space I had. Will have more open space in the new house. Thinking of a 125 potentially 180

I have my diatom bloom in full effect. Starting to add a coating of rust color on the rocks. Larry, the bicolor angel, is doing really well. He is feeding on a mix of mysis shrimp and pellets. He also picks at the diatoms from time to time. May pick up a clean up crew before we leave for the new house, but trying to figure out what I'm going to do.

Current Water Parameters:
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20

Another new addition to the tank. After a few weeks of the bicolor angel being by himself I have added a six line wrasse.

So the journey will definitely continue with a bigger tank. Picked up a 120 gallon tank for the basement at the new house which included a stand and canopy. Dual overflow and reef ready, so I won’t need any HOB overflow anymore, which made me pretty nervous. Although I never had any issues with flooding/leaking.

Move happens on the 17th with a little reno in the basement to follow. Then setting up the new tank with old live rock, new live sand, and some new rock.

Will keep everyone updated on the love and new setup.

Well we have had our first death and it all has to do with the move. The little six line wrasse didn’t make it through the tear down of the 56 gallon tank and into the holding tank before moving to the new house. Found him curled up on the bottom of the tank stiff as a board.

RIP 6-line

On the bright side of things. Picked up my new tank and have it waiting in the garage for the move.

120 gallon dual overflow with stand and canopy. Going to be painting the stand and canopy and sealing the inside of both. Maybe changing the doors out.

Wife and son have picked out a few new fish for the new tank. Once it’s up and running ordering and quarantine will start. Looking to add probably 10 or so fish to start staggered over a few weeks.

We are about to move in the next couple of days and we have moved the two fish to smaller tank. Decided to try and save most of the water and some of the sand to help with a shorter cycle. The fish are in a smaller tank for the move and I will set up the tank in a few days. Picked up a couple more fish that will call the new tank home during a sale on LiveAquaria. Couldn’t pass up the deal and they seem to be doing great so far. These little guys will have much more room in the new tank.

Two fancy oscillaris clown fish and two black snowflake clown fish. Both sets are from ORA.
