This is going to be a bit of a downer. Please at the end try to find something happy.

My grandfather is fighting a uti that has made him very sick and weak. They went to insert a feeding tube because he was unable to swallow. I just learned that they couldn't insert a feeding tube. My dad and his siblings have decided to bring him home and put him In hospice.
We now start that journey.

Hes 90 about ready to turn 91. In 11 he had a massive ha, stroke and a major car accident at the same time. Passed out behind the wheel and rolled into traffic. His quality of life hasn't been the same since.

He's a God fearing man that took great care of his kids and grandkids. He's slow to talk and a very insightful with loads of wisdom.
His humor was different. He is quick to say it hurt doesn't. It will feel better after it stops hurting
Or you'll know where it is when you find it and it will be the last place you look.

I knew this day was coming, I hoped it would be later rather than sooner.
Never think the need to share something so close to your heart will ever be considered a “downer”. We are a unique crowd. I think everyone will agree that It’s not just about the tanks anymore.
Your grandfather sounds just like my husbands grandfather. He was in two serious accidents and still kept a good attitude because “Jesus loves me”. We’d take him to church in a wheelchair. He knew every word to every hymn and with his hands held hi samg every word. He defied the odds, and we were blessed with this wonderful man for 5 more years. My husband was with him the night he passed. They were talking ( more like my husband was talking) and he suddenly smiled and said, “I’ve got to go. I see Him, Jesus is waiting for me”. He closed his eyes and with a smile on his face went to meet his Savior.
From my family to yours, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope your grandfather is able to ”defy the odds”. If not, I hope you can find comfort knowing he is in a better place

No thank you for feeling comfortable enough to share something so personal with us. With everything going on around these days, being able to have a place and people to share things with is SO incredibly important. I'm sure I speak for everyone here (except MAYBE @fishguy242 cause hes too busy playing with matches) when I say we feel blessed that you consider us all close enough to share both the awesome highs in your life as well as the more troubling times. :D

Sorry to hear about your Grandfather. Others here have written so many great comments. You all have time to continue to let him know he is loved and valued which is a blessing in itself. Prayers for all the family!

What do you all think about helping Erin O get her 29 gallon tank going. I have live rock and Eheim hang on the back filter and some live sand plus a ground probe. She needs a powerhead and some other things. Seems like the 75 gallon tank is not a go at this time.

Of course her hubby has to say it is okay.

Prayers and comfort coming your way !!

I could make a 75g reef ready happen. It's been curing in the basement for two weeks after I patched the seam leak that made me take it down...
