Which tang?

Ok first stack attempt. Will wait for the water to clear back up and ponder on it fir a bit. Does it look too flat across the top? Two separate islands with a deep valley in between. A few subtle overhangs.

I looked a lot, refreshed my drink and looked more!
Pic one left, the level between the two peaks makes it look flat imo, love the right, I want to see a dip there! ;)
Thanks! That was my thought as well after looking at the pics. I think I can move one rock and get closer.

There is not a known problem with the tank. I just noticed the shiny particles today. The mud has been in there for a year.
Having no problems, I wouldn't sweat it. Its likely iron to assist in algae growth. It is refugium substrate meant to assist in that type of filtration. I think, iron will only release so much into the water as it isn't very soluble. Not like the nickel and vanadium I had in my sand, and not really toxic. Be careful using magnet cleaners near there, but I wouldnt worry.

Yes. I also have the Caribsea Miracle Mud in my cryptic refugium along with a 6lb bucket of the now discontinued Walt Smith Fiji Mud.

I think I want to start collecting mud and stuff from the coast. Check out what I found last weekend at our boat ramp.

Ulva macroalgae...

Yeah, just an observation. No problems, so I wasn't going to remove it. It is time to replace half of it though, according to the directions. Cool find with the macroalgae!

Got the first coat of poly on the stand...its a satin finish so it doesnt show up real good in the pics, but I'm thinking I may end up redoing the trim...it all looks the same now...need something to break up the color...opinions? Also, obviously this is outside under cloudy skies, so may be a little different in artificial lights inside.

Hey, when did we get new reactions?

Anyway. Take better care of that Harley... what'd it do to you?

For the stand, maybe a yellow pine for the trim? Something lighter as an accent. That might be too bright tho. I kinda like it how it is now tho. Got the spruce/oak look.

Its all oak, check my build thread and you will see the original color, which ended up being too dark in our new place, so I decided to sand it down and redo. Thinking about reversing the original color scheme...dark trim, everything else like it is now.

+1 dark trim. It almost has a zebra wood look.

The power of a propane torch on oak, no @fishguy242 you cant burn my stand :p ...the zebra wood look is what I was going for. I just like some contrasting colors. Thanks for your input on it.

When I first saw the pictures I thought it looked like something my dad would have built. He loved taking a propane torch to wood to make it look like that before staining. :-)
