Again.

Not about politics.
Not about capitalism
Not about anti-capitalism

It's about unscrupulous sellers and what amounts to fraud and taking unfair advantage of people through deception.
AKA CAPITALISM.

Too bad some people can't escape politics in their lives. I love this site because for the most part politics are held at bay. It should be the one place where I am away from it completely. Politics have become so toxic that it can be outright dangerous to discuss them in public. What has this country come to. I am not you enemy because we disagree on something.
With that said, the doctoring of photos to sell an item should be a crime. The best way to protect noobs from this is teaching them to ask questions from the seller and ask for more photos. No new photos, no money. Just move on to the next one. Experienced reefers could help noobs by explaining this simple procedure to them instead of complaining about how much it costs. It's their money. Let them spend it however they want. Just help them to not get ripped off by buying something that is not real. Just my .02
And forget about politics while you are on this site. You will live longer if you do and you will be a happier person by doing so.

Euyphillia in general is over priced and has been for years. Yet at reef swaps i go to they still ask for close to $100 a head for generic stuff and then complain they can't sell it. A local guy i buy from cant prune and sell it fast enough.

Its not the names of certain coral that drives prices up it is supply and demand. To point fingers at just torch prices is crazy, you get similar prices on certain coral whether thats sps, lps and even softies. Look at bounce mushrooms for starters.

I find that an orange filter for gold euphyllia expresses the colors that you actually see in person better than no filter under blue lights. I find that under white lighting most Indo gold torches lose that vibrant gold color. I find this occurs around 10000k, I would argue most don’t keep their tanks this white. The gold is definitely visible when ran under lighting conditions that most of us have. I have found (in the hundreds of Indo golds I’ve owned) that the gold gets more intense over time. I myself have been ticked off with a torch I’ve paid a fortune for that showed up looking washed only to have its true color and tentacle extension come out a month later.

I find that green, purple, black variations look better under Warner lights. Here is an example of what “I AM” calling an Aquaman torch. Call it a torch if you want but the name is there to tell you what it looks like. Since no one else has said torch, I shall give it a name. It has blue tentacles, green mouth, yellow tips with yellow streaks down the tentacles. First pic taken under AB+ with 3 ATI blue plus and 1 coral plus second pic taken under only radion blues. Been in the tank 1 week. Let’s see what a month does to it.

If you can’t tell when a picture is photoshopped then maybe you shouldn’t buy corals. A majority of this hobby is based on our ability to see things lol pretty much all of it lol, starting out you might not know and you should dig and do a little research before you buy stuff. But there isn’t gonna be a lot of price gouging on lower end stuff. One shouldn’t up and buy expensive stuff starting out either until you’re familiar with how things run in this hobby.

At least starting out after you might not be able to see when there’s been altering. But starting out as I said starts out in the lower end of the cost spectrum. Usually. However with experience that top dollar your willing to spend on any coral likely increases as does your knowledge and experience. At that point you should be able to tell actual from altered pictures. Most people use filters and aren’t going to go through the trouble of actually photoshopping.

There’s a reason good pictures sell better, and if you can’t ID photoshopping then IMO that’s not the sellers fault. I think it’s wrong for sellers to misrepresent the items they are selling but at the end of the day you CHOOSE where you spend your money.

This is actually irritating because I was taught to work for what I wanted, not to be handed things I ‘deserve’.

This hobby wouldn’t exist in a socialist/communist society. Freedom to choose and buy things you want no longer exists when you’re handed the things you need... last time I checked the government doesn't supply the coral chain, private companies do.

I think you should take a couple of classes in basic reading and comprehension. And take one in basic government while you're at it. This is not a place for politics. If something is going to trigger you like this, I recommend you just keep on scrolling past it. Have a great day and stay safe!

If you have something to say then say it, adding links with no description is a bad way to make a point and very misleading, especially when you haven’t done you’re research.

P.S. Nice hospitality award...

Please, lets keep things social and respectful. At R2R we believe in open discussion, so lets not say things that may be in violation of the ToS.

Thank you

Hello friends. While we want to be able to allow as much debate as possible to continue we feel like some discussions degrade to a point that it is no longer in the best interest of the forum or participants to allow it to continue. That being said we’re going to put this one to rest and we hope you understand. Have a good day.
