Man I love this. Will take some time to read through, learn

Mostly documenting with videos on T-tube, but here to get into these cool topics with all the fellow acro nerds ;) My style and approach is kinda confusing, and not trying to mislead those into the type of regiments I utilize, been at the bacteria driven game since 2006, I think you remember that old Zeovit cube in 2007? Anyway, those topics require the hobbyist to examine, observe, and study the nuances of these amazing corals. These critical connections are not easily explained or duplicated, so instead of trying to explain myself away, I choose to video updates and specifics regarding engagement there :)
Too many amazing folks around here to disappear. I also got back in as I left my job of many years, to a dream job of being a service tech for commercial, public, and high-end private aquariums. I litterally am immersed in building my food forest, herb garden, utilizing living soil and regenerative farming practices, working out and studying nutrition and herbal solutions to ailments and longevity, studying acros and the micro-biome, surfing, you get the idea... So, I had to have a tank, just to sort of geek out ;) Life is good and just happy to share to anyone interested in this old guys rhetoric...

One of my favs, and definitely shines under full spectrum - but it doesn’t really fit the “SPS” criteria :grinning-face-with-sweat:

10k and full spectrum are complete different things, I can build a full spectrum fixture way above 20k that is full spectrum, full spectrum means it goes from 400nm to 700nm at least. My fixture goes from below that to 840nm. Even 10k is different depending on technology and spectrum combination, so are you looking for natural looking photos or just full spectrum?

The intent to put together a reference for hobbyists who want to obtain corals that look great without trick lighting.

I think the above captures the essence/intent of this thread. I don't disagree with you around the technicalities of a high ( > 20,000) kelvin bulb/combo/fixture also satisfying requirements to be considered "full spectrum".

But to keep things relatively simple: if the coral is ugly when you turn up or put over it, ' white light ' - it shouldn't be added to the list.

Saw many of these come into Rob's Reef (off Blanding Blvd in Jacksonville) wild collected. I remember them being screaming yellow (we also got in bonafide Fiji Yellow Leathers (selling for ~ $40 for decent size colony))... Delicious.

So I consider the Radium full spectrum. I am just stunned at how dark and rich the colors are on this growout compared to the above colony under straight LED's.....

Here is our little test colony that is under a 20k Radium. I know 20k is not technically "daylight" but visually when you are looking at the acros in this system, most of them are ugly lol. So I consider the Radium full spectrum. I am just stunned at how dark and rich the colors are on this growout compared to the above colony under straight LED's.....

Honestly, I don't think it matters under LED or T5 on the colors more or less. If you are using full spectrum they will look the same. If the fish look like they are supposed to look can help or if there is egg crate or plugs they should be white. Pink Coraline algae should look pink not purple.

There are two different cameras I used so there is that too.

Colony pictures is what I would focus on vs 2" tip pictures or frags.

I know - mostly adding this in here as a guide for folks who may not be familiar with all the options for white/lower kelvin/full spectrum lighting, and what their corals may look like under them. T5 combos are particularly helpful in this spirit. Thanks for the details.

Agreed, especially since these are the corals that look great/better as colonies than frags. I'm only cataloguing pics/info others post here, so any encouragement is helpful. Maybe instead of a frag and colony pic, I can switch it for colony pics under two different types of lighting...
