Just found out I needed to calibrate my refractometer. So was about to order some calibrating solution, when someone suggested that it wasn't necessary because you can calibrate it with ro/di water. Great, I don't need calibrating solution. I read further and it was suggested that one wants to back-up any test, especially the salinity of water. So I ordered the calibrating solution to back-up the ro/di test. ;Smuggrin

I feel like I am getting somewhere now. Got the tank on and the sump in. I was a little worried about moving the tank and cracking it... especially after reading the thread about the member who cracked his red sea tank. All went well with the help of my neighbor and a dolley. Here's a shot of the tank and sump.

Following this one. If
I can be of any help let me know!!

Thx, Shaggy. I'm sure I will take you up on that. I'm working on my rock work for the tank today/tom; and plan on starting up my 75gpd ro/di system tomorrow... I figure it will take about 3 days to make all of the water i'll need initially. I'm not pushing myself to get this tank up and running by a certain date; just taking each step at a pace I feel comfortable with. I am shooting to have this tank operational by next wknd. we'll see.

I'm making ro/di water! The BRS 4-stage recommends a minimum of 50psi and fortunately I am right at that pressure. No booster for me.

Looking good buddy. Ready to see what you come up with on your rockscape. If you plan on cementing/glue the rock together. I would suggest doing it before you had them to the tank. Make a cut out of the bottom of the tank to give you a idea of the dimensions.

"Make a cut out of the bottom of the tank to give you a idea of the dimensions." Yup, that's exactly what I am I doing. I have some cyanoacrylate glue and rods. I plan on making the rockscape out of the tank and then taking a picture and setting it up and gluing it on top of egg crate in the tank. It's taking longer than I expected.:D

It's a start. a few more things to add. I have cyanoacrylate glue, but I am thinking about getting some silicone to hold it together. it's more solid than it probably looks. it doesn't rock back and forth and there nothing holding it together other than the rock's weight. The ro/di water is done. Need to change out the outlet to a gfci tom. If all goes right, i should be filling the tank on saturday.

First things first. Welcome! Second thing, love the rock work. Really well done especially if this is your first time. Now my one suggestion is to really make sure that structure is secure before adding water. Make sure you use something reef safe. Your LFS prob has an epoxy or a cement, if not all of the online manufacturers will. Following along, keep up the good work!

Thx. I was looking further into silicone and don't think I am going that way. Yes, the cyanoacrylate glue is reef safe, so i am told. I went ahead and ordered some epoxy putty off amazon.

GFCI outlet installed. Apparently the outlet was at the end of the line as I only had the hot wire, white wire, and ground wire. Installed wires and plugged radio into outlet and turned breaker on; hit reset and power returned to outlet with green light. Eazy Peezy.:)
