A Mollusk adventure also occurred. I lost track of my Nerite 2 days ago and today I started searching, I checked the chambers the hood and fingred through the sand bed much to the chagrin of my Nassarius and dwarf ceriths who have been having a party in there. I did find my missing Florida cerith in the sand but no Nerite!! So I wondered if he escaped the tank and perished in the carpeting. Now I have 2 cats that love pushing things under my tank stand and that's where I found the poor thing. I assumed it to be dead but I remembered that some crafty snails can lock their shells and maintain their moisture for a while when the tide goes down. So I placed it in a small jar of tank water and sure enough not 5 seconds later he was out and zooming around the jar. Never give up on your snails!
Also while I was checking the tank I was shocked to find ANOTHER clam alive in a peice of originally dead rock! It's quite decent sized too. I'm guessing my fungia clam reproduced? That rock was bleached and dry for years so it must have started growth recently.
