Alk is still high at 13 dkh and calcium is still at about 560. Everything else is in line perfectly. No idea what the deal is. I do water changes frequently could that be it? Or do I need to switch to a different salt, I currently use reef crystals.

idk what the parameters are for reef crystals. i assumed ur doing weekly water change 15-25%?

beyond that I would wait a day or so. sometimes coral just do that.

Once a week at minimum. The tanks so small that I end up doing a 25% WC every time i need to float something just so it doesn’t overflow. Prob 1-3x week average.

Diatom hell has begun. Glass needs to be cleaned daily. Hopefully my random flow generator helps to dissipate them. Also got a few knuckles of 1/4” loc-line to aim the flow more precisely.

You're 1+ month in so it's natural. I am 3 months in and 2 days from completing the acclimation for the light. Mine will light begin to bloom here shortly.

Partially open today. It’s peaking out. Noticed everything else is really happy. Good polyp extension on all my zoas and mushrooms are spread open. Did noice two very small aptasia on the bottom of my GSP rock. Contemplating breaking the rock apart or gluing them shut out of the tank.

75% WC today. Got a ton of the diatoms out. Installed the RFG nozzle and ordered a rio 600 pump. I want more flow to deter future algae. This upgraded pump is still too small. Zoas are happy and so are the mushrooms .

Downloaded Aquarium Camera from he App Store. Works well for correcting the LED washout. Rasta’s are really popping as are the fire and ice.

First magnesium test shows high mag. 1410 to be exact. Alk was 12, calcium 520. Guess at least it’s pretty consistently high.

New rio pump installed. It’s loud as crap! Lots of flow too. Idk if it’s gonna work.

Added the stock Fluval pump back in for some flow to help with algae. May swap out the spout and paint it black to match. Flow seems good right now. Just fed reef roids. Everything seems to like them!

fTS for the day. I’m gonna mount the extra pump behind the false wall in the second chamber and plumb it so he nozzle comes through just below the stock return. I’ll have to drill a 1/4” hole but that’s fine.

Monti in general likes flow and loves light.

Where should I put the new acans. Thinking the top.

I would put acans on the same level as zoas or slightly higher. Putting it on the same level as monti would befine over time; acans may just need time to adjust to increase flow and light.

nice. those should produce heads in no time. With acans, even if you feed brine shrimp or mysis weekly, you should start seeing new heads within months.

just be watchful with the feeding, as with small tank, it'll impact your nitrate. I feed mine a little too much I think and so I do have to adjust my water change and carbon dosing accordingly based on tests. With new tank, algae bloom will be a pain and big problem. spot feed when you can...assuming your clown lets you ;)

I actually fed my bi-weekly reef roids this morning and it elicited a feeding response from the acans. I do have frozen mysis for them as well. They re awesome looking. Glad I have Them a try.
