My wife allowed me to go from two 30g fresh water tanks to saltwater, two 90s, two 75's, a 65, two 55s, many 40s and then when I got into seahorses, all the fry setups and artemia rearing cultures plus pod cultures.

dang that’s an addiction I’m going from two 20s to a 55. I have 22 seahorses but am giving 2 males to one friend that has just females and I’m giving 2 others to another person along with one of my 20gal setups with filter plants n 20gal fresh ocean water that leaves me 18 ,, but I’m sure to get at least another dozen before season is over ( will not keep all of corse just a couple depending on color) curtain is part of my illness

Ok just a couple more little things got done this evening. Before going offshore I rinsed and rinsed some crushed coral. Then went 10 miles offshore to get 16 buckets of water. Now on way back to port( 3 more miles) with water, will bring all buckets into wife’s living room to start warming up and filtering. Hopefully late tomorrow night I can start filling my seahorse condominium

Easier to ask forgiveness than permission I once came home on a brand new 22,000 dollar Harley and she flipped. Did time on couch a couple nights then 3rd night was back upstairs and bike in the garage

If I did something like that when MY wife was alive still, the BIKE may have made it to the couch, but I would be the one in the garage, PERMANENTLY.
Might be the only reason we lasted together for so long was that I didn't do things without her acceptance. She most certainly "accepted" (not necessarily liked) an awful lot of things for me over the years, probably more than I deserved.

Ok time for small update , went shopping for few items and spent more than planed because I want it all lol. Just some fake pebbles, step stool, tank temperature gimmick stick on outside of tank, also couldn’t resist a seahorse temp thing for inside of tank, and I know this is against everything most of website members think a colorful FAKE coral thingy. But I do have access to all the live rock I want in many sizes and shapes it’s gonna be hard to choose what to take ( but I’ll figure it out) well more to come. Can’t wait till grand opening of seahorse condominium

YIPPIE we have an up and running seahorse condominium SWEET. So happy ( for now) I can’t believe I did it, I never imagined that I’d have a big tank let alone one with lots of live rock. I want to thank everyone who gave me advice, help, encouragement, ect ect. I still have some tweaking to do move some things around maybe add more stuff ( I still have a few things I want to add) but not much else but put seahorses in it. Here r some pics including gimmick I made to pump water. Also center piece is a cast molding of myself I gave to wife on Valentine’s Day when we started dating long ago

Well my skimmer sucks , my buddy says it’s cheap junk so I’m getting a better one also I got my grow light soaked ( dropped in refugium) and started sparking then burning smell came out of it. So I’m getting new one hopefully today. But it’s 22 degrees outside here and I really don’t wanna go outside( spend 90 percent of my time in the ocean freezing my butt off) so today just wanna stay warm. But I’m LOVING my new tank

So wow I realized that I haven’t really kept up on my build thread on the site as of a very long time so much has changed since I put my very first tank together,,, The tank in this thread is 55 I have since moved to a 65 gallon tank,, The switchover went extremely bad I wound up losing almost every day I lost
30 coral
4 fish
3 seahorses
Half of CUC
I almost walked away from the hobby I was so disgusted,, but a bunch of good people talked me into pushing forward and trying again half a dozen people showed up at my house with a bunch of coral to get my tank going once again and without that I don’t think I would’ve ever kept pushing forward
As I look back on this thread it amazes me how much my king has changed to what it is now and I could not be happier that I did not quit,,, here is a couple of pictures on how my tank went from day one until what it is today
The first picture you will notice everything fake the next picture is when I slowly started switching to live rock and the final picture is what my tank looks like today and I could not be happier
