you'll want to keep an eye on the melanurus for sure since they're from the same genus, but they do look quite different from each other, so they'll be more likely to get along

I read as much before I purchased it, and also read of quite a few folks happily having them together, so we will see. Fish aggression is always a strange thing. Sorta like people of (dis)similar race

Marble wrasses also develop an attitude as they mature.

I’ll hope for the best. I really wanted to experiment in this tank given it’s limited period of life. I’m an expat on a contract and will only be here for a few years. Already have a bunch of folks who I can part out everything to when the time comes.

I removed my Sailfin and brought him back to the LFS yesterday. He was way to aggressive with my Labouti. Not enough to injure or keep my Labouti from eating but certainly will limit me from adding other wrasses in the future so back to the LFS he went.
Too bad that he is so aggressive, like Hunter said, because he is really a beautiful fish.

I think my blue star leapard wrasse is changing sex :( I’m a little gutted as I prefer their female colour.

Do you think if I added a small Macropharyngodon meleagris, they will be ok?

My blue star is in the middle of changing too and I agree. I like the female colors better. But it's something that is just going to happen.
I have 4 smaller meleagris in the same tank and there are times when the blue star goes after one or the other meleagris and other times the blue star ignores them.
I would think more than 1 would have a better chance.

A female meleagris should be fine, but there can be quite a difference between individual Leopard wrasse temperaments.

ok a short story about a few wrasses I have. My Orange Back was mean to my Rose Scale and Yellow Flank wrasse. Every time he saw either of them he would chase them into hiding. I almost pulled him. Then one day the Orange Back vanished and I thought it had died and was eatin. Then a couple of months later I see the Orange Back's head come out between the rocks. He comes out and both the Rose and Yellow Flank chase him into hiding. Lately the OB is coming out more but is also looking over his shoulder.

How big of tank? Both the Orange back and the Yellow flank are from the same sub group so you are bound to have some issues. Is it constant chasing?

Hey guys I have a tiny issue with two of my wrasse's I have a mystery wrasse.... and scarlet pin Stripe Wrasse... the Scarlet chases the other wrasse all over the tank!! I added the Scarlet to acclimation box to bring down the aggression and left him in it for three weeks, released him back to the tank again.....and he is still trying to bully the mystery wrasse again!! Can they coexist together?? Or should I pull out the Scarlet wrasse!? The tank is 75 gallons

I bought it Saturday. I did my acclimation process like I normally do with all my wrasses. This time I decided to put him in an acclimation box because he is almost the same size as my Pink margin about 4-5 inch. On Sunday, he was doing good. He was eating pellets and frozen blood worms. I decided to keep him in the box 1 more day. I came home yesterday, it looks like he injured himself. He stopped eating.[emoji31] In retrospect, I should have release him Sunday.

I picked up the female Halichoeres Melasmapomus yesterday. Here she is.

And I figured for $10, might as well give the fish a shot. Of course, as soon as I put her in, she dove directly under a bali brain and haven't seen her since.

Both of those are in the genus Pseudocheilinus. They are known to be aggressive toward other wrasses, even worse the more closely related they are. One will definitely need to be removed. Keeping either will likely prevent any other wrasses being added.

Not necessarily. A similarly sized pink margin could habe caused problems for the lineatus if it were released from the acclimation box too soon. I've had lineatus wrasses stay in an acclimation box longer than that without issue. I would suspect other factors at play.
