Dang, I’ve not seen any since the boom in collection with them last year and everyone was getting them but now nobody seems to have them from last year.

if you notice though, unlike last year where there were quite a few choatis around, and hardly any gold nuggets(least this side of the pond), it's Just the opposite this year.

We’ve had the opposite;
More choati’s surfaced in our main provider (TMC) than Gold Nuggets did this year however last year we had more Gold Nuggets than we did Choatis.

Odd how fish are collected in the same region, but the distribution differences between different sides of the pond.

I can't find a choati anywhere, but I see plenty of gold nuggets. Heck even as cheap as $150.

Dang, I know there was an influx of Choati’s in early March but when I was told they all sold. I’m still hunting for them but TMC isnt looking to get an Aussie import soon from what I’ve seen so far.

Be careful with the Gold Nugget, they’re much like Anampses and Macropharyngodon wrasses and dislike too much aggression.

Halichoeres iridis shot really turned out well!

Cirrhilabrus Lunatus still very much female

Halichoeres timorensis and its massive gut!

Cirrhilabrus exquisitus caught the full effects of my shimmer lights thus the beautiful rainbow affect!

Anampses meleagrides looking far far tougher than it is but I'm less worried about its weight.

Pseudocheilinops ataenia still as chubby as ever!

Macropharyngodon marisrubri aslo got a bit of glimmer

Halichoeres melanarus as always is prettier in photos then reality

Labroides dimidiatus was of course too fast and small to get a great photo but its still alright

Coris gaimard is also hard to photo as for some reason it is a coward. It is getting quite sizeable but not transitioning. I've definetly seen smaller Gaimards that were already fully sub-adults.

The iridis looks to be turning as well with a beautiful bar appearing through the dorsal fin.

Cool! That and my Gaimard are the ones I really do want to trnasition. I'm hoping the darkening of the gaimard means it may start soon.

Anyone kept 2 different smaller species hogfish together? My candy hog (Bodianus bimaculatus) is definitely still female, so considering adding another hogfish (Bodianus sepiacaudus).

I've kept a spawning pair of the candy hog together before without issue, and currently have 2 different species of the larger more aggressive hogs living together fine (Bodianus axillaris and Bodianus rufus) in my predator system, but haven't kept these 2 specific fish together before. I'd swear I've seen a video of someone's reef with both in it, and don't forsee any major issues, but figured I'd ask here.

Here's a VERY old pic of my Bodianus bimaculatus pair in my old 187 gallon fish only, circa 2007 or so.

Well, decided to try it with 2 juvenile fish while in quarantine. So far, both are getting along fine!

Also picked up a couple other beautiful wrasses while at the LFS getting frozen tonight. I did tell my wife I wanted to go back for the flasher, but had not mentioned the others. We'll see how long it takes her to notice the 4 newbies in the quarantine with the gold nugget and the yellow candy hog.

My H timorensis has become a bit of a bully towards the H iridis and I’m worried about adding more wrasse while I have so little home time. Plus I’d like to try and find a B anthioides rather than a Diana if I can.

My H timorensis has become a bit of a bully towards the H iridis and I’m worried about adding more wrasse while I have so little home time. Plus I’d like to try and find a B anthioides rather than a Diana if I can.

I wouldn't put B anthoides or B diana in a reef. Both get rather destructive as adults.

I've been tempted by a juvenile B. anthoides at my LFS for the past couple months, but already have 2 hogs in my FOWLR and don't want to risk a 3rd.

I would have probably tried the M ornatus. It's a bolder leopard, and should be able to hold it's own if it's a healthy specimen.

Keeping these guys in quarantine to make sure they're fat and healthy and eating well before moving into the hustle and bustle of the display makes a huge difference as well. My splendid pencils (notoriously shy and sensitive to stress) take food right from my hand and are out all day, not even flinching if a damsel divebombs them to get them away from their cave.
