Found her at my local PetCo. There were a couple other wrasses including Black Back . Unfortunately I only have a 60.
Dang, there’s a few healthy wrasses at my LFS from a tank break down and I wish I thought out my 4’ wrasses more… There’s an incredibly beautiful female moyeri that’s going for the lowest of the triple digits. And of course there’s a gorgeous black back too that’s eating everything and anything.
Sounds like the type of wrasse that’s right up my alley! My chloropterus can be a PITA to newbies that love sand. He ignored fairies and flashers but the xenojulis became worrying as he was hiding on one side the majority of the time of introduction week.
How did they react to the Rally Pro?Moved the wrasses over from quarantine last night to give them some extra space. Everyone was eating well, with no signs of disease, and have already been treated with rally pro and prazi, not too worried about ich or velvet with the wrasses.
So far everyone but the black leopard has come out to eat. Gold nugget was out most of the day, but buried about 1 hr ago. Everyone else looks good though! Pretty overcrowded, but no signs of aggression. I can't get the 180 gallon set up to move them into soon enough!
Also picked up my 240 gallon today to get the big wrasses and other FOWLR fish moved into!
No issues. I do a 90 minute rally pro bath for all my new fish.
Ok. I wondered if you just treated the QT/observation tank. Was thinking of doing this begore I move the wrasses over but the choati goes ballistic bouncing off the lid if I do anything out of the ordinary.
Nah, they get a bath with rally pro in a very well aerated bucket with a heater and clean saltwater, then move to the quarantine with sand and live macro, where I treat with prazi. I usually use cupramine on all my quarantine fish, but all these guys have already been in copper for a while, and wrasses usually get ich or velvet from what I've observed. Never had any issues using copper with wrasses, but figured these guys would be happier in the big tank with lots of rock etc to pick at.

I buy rally pro and add some to a bucket of saltwater following manufacturer directions
Cirrhilabrus and Paracheilinus species (fairies and flashers) don’t pose a problem to snails or shrimp, but Halichoeres and some Macropharyngodon species love to to go after inverts specifically snails and shrimp. A 90 gallon is a good size of fairies flashers and halichoeres. Peppermint shrimps wouldn’t be safe especially the smallest ones, but you could get lucky and the wrasse you get don’t go after the peppermints but I’d highly doubt it.
My timor (Halichoeres timorensis) and radiant (Halichoeres iridis) leave most inverts alone. The timor likes to eat smaller snails like stomatella, cerith, and Astraea. The timor and my secretive wrasse (Pseudocheilinus evanidus) also like to try and rip legs off the brittle starfish, so those have learned to only come out at night.
