The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Hey everyone! I have made some significant changes to my setup and decided a couple weeks ago to go with a mainly wrasse fowlr. I previously had a 9 inch green bird wrasse for years that just decided he wouldn't get along with anyone anymore. After a lot of help from @SaltyT , I decided to rehome him and since he was my favorite fish I wanted a smaller one. I got rid of a lot of my bigger more aggressive fish and decided to replace with some smaller wrasses that will end up big again someday. I wanted to share my tank with you since I have 4 wrasses in there. I added a smaller green bird, a banana, a cuban hogfish, and already had a giant orangeback fairy. Hope you all enjoy.

All of them are gorgeous however I’d be careful with those other guys and the Auridontorsalis as the others can become relatively nasty once they mature and age. Although the auridontorsalis is rather large so I’d be surprised if they did try go for it it’s still good to be cautious :)

So awesome to see this! Everyone looks great!

It's not often that people get to see how large some fairy wrasses can get!

Figured this is a good place to ask, but do you guys know if this is a female or male Cirrhilabrus Isosceles? My first wrasse! Currently in QT and eating LRS like a pig.

@i cant think @SaltyT

Thanks guys! I knew that going into this and believe it or not the fairy is the boss of the 4 of them so far. I've caught him chasing the others from time to time and they all avoid him when he is on the way. He is definitely huge for a fairy.

That is a stunning male - some may even say it’s a supermale. The colours really are stunning. Females are nowhere near that patterned.

I still am looking for my dream fish the pelicieri wrasse from the Mauritius.
Got one after a long time and it decided to jump through my mesh. Still hurts me to this day.
Ik it sounds weird for it to be my dream fish but something about them amazes me.

The only chance I got to take a photo of it

best looking fish in my tank. chases my hooded wrasse a little, but otherwise gets along with everyone.

hard to even capture the colors accurately, the head is so intensely purple and it has started developing a yellow edge to the dorsal and tail fins. dorsal fin was actually mostly ripped off by my juvenile atlantic blue tang but has healed up very quickly.

Pelicieri is on my wish list too, albeit I’ve not seen one in years so it’s not too high up the list. Your photo is beautiful, it’s a shame they’re so bad when it comes to jumping.
My lfs had one and for some dumb reason I did not get I keep hitting myself on the head
I continue to get annoyed at myself for avoiding my now number 1 dream wrasse - The Red Tailed Tamarin. Hopefully you find another xanthomos, I unfortunately avoided a pair because the male didn’t look too healthy however I may have grabbed both if it weren’t for that male.

I guess I now have room for another fish so… maybe it’ll be a wrasse but maybe it’ll be an Angel (although I will admit it’s rather too soon to be thinking about a new fish - I’d rather have a ‘mourning’ period and wait for the perfect fish).

Ohhhhh so your the guy I’ve seen on YouTube

Had a short panic when I thought my radiant had HLLE but then realized it was it’s ears. Haha
They are one of the only fish that has visible ears so far as I can tell. Earmuff maybe. But none of my other fish including the melanarus.

Now that’s a first I had never seen that I never even knew fish HAVE ears. Well visible ears I mean lol.

Why is there almost no new information about the Nursalim Flasher? Looking at forums, Youtube videos, websites, and none seem to have much. There also seems to be a lack of color in these wrasse wherever I look for them yet all the pictures I see on the internet are vibrant. I would like to add one to the tank but the lack of info about them seems a bit iffy to me.

Well, I did a rip clean on my 75 gallon today, and had all the fish in a 5 gallon bucket for 1 hr. Went to put the fish back and all 3 fairy wrasses (pintail, rhomboid, and bathyphilus) were all dead. All the rest of the fish and inverts seemed completely fine. Not sure what went wrong, maybe they panicked and darted into the sides of the bucket?

My condolences those are such beautiful fish. Maybe they all went into a went into a state of shock and then panic? Hoping you get new ones.
