I've seen many here using acclimation boxes. Is that to get them comfortable in the tank so that they don't jump right out? Aggression?

In terms of future additions, everything I’d say has been said already so I’ll help with the ID ;)

You have a true Bipartitus. The second species we talk about when dealing with these two is Marisrubri vs Bipartitus.
The Marisrubri looks very similar to bipartitus however its dorsal and anal fins extend further back almost blending into the tail. Marisrubri also has a smoother and wider dorsal. The curve in Marisrubri seems to go up and then down whilst bipartitus seems to curve down with the body shape. Bipartitus also has a much more bumpy start to its dorsal. The bumpiness is best exaggerated in Xenojulis margaritaceus and Macropharyngodon choati.
However you can see the ridging in this photo as well as the much more sudden up and down in the curve.

Nice wrasses. I love anthias so we need a fts. As far as tangs I would stick to the smaller species like tomini. Mine got to a good size in my 120.

Acclimation Time!!!

I have the following fish ready to exit QT in a few days:

1. Golden head sleeper goby
2. Exquisite wrasse (Cirrhilabrus exquisitus)
3. Yellow wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus
4. Ornate Leopard (Macropharyngodon ornatus)

My acclimation box is only big enough for 2 at at time. So … Any recommendations on the order (and pairing) I should add them?

Existing fish:

• Halichoeres melanurus
• Paracheilinus mccoskeri
• Cirrhilabrus lubbocki (Cebu)
• Midas Blenny
• 2x Snowflake clowns
• 3x Pajama Cardinalfish

I wouldn’t say that the order or pairings matter. Also the exquisite and goby probably don’t need it.

Lol I’ve been slacking today with the thread. Looks like help is already perfectly given so I guess now I can sit back and relax for the night lol :yawning-face:

Went to TSA today and they had a few wrasse but none on my list unfortunately. They had a nice Cirrhilabrus flavidorsalis and a rubripinnis but of course phone died so no pictures sorry guys :rolleyes:

Finally got some pics of my Black Leopard wrasse. My Red Velvet is keeping the Melanurus in place now that it’s settled in. Which keeps the Mel less interested in in being a PIA . Forgive the quality, the little guy moves around quickly.

Finally got some pics of my Black Leopard wrasse. My Red Velvet is keeping the Melanurus in place now that it’s settled in. Which keeps the Mel less interested in in being a PIA . Forgive the quality, the little guy moves around quickly.

I guess I’ll do the sand dwellers first because there’s plenty of place to share.

Next week I’m planning on adding a whole new section of rock … so I’ll add the others then and let them fight over who gets it.

Picked up a new wrasse today (the one I bought myself for Mother's Day, haha). I had forgotten what they called it - "weedy surge wrasse". Looks like they have quite a few common names (pearly wrasse, pink-belly wrasse, etc.) I thought the coloring was really unique and pretty. I think this one is probably female? I was surprised when it didn't dive right into the sand when I released it into the tank. Actually seemed pretty comfy right off the bat. Then of course the melanurus and yellow tang noticed it. That yellow tang man... she's definitely tank boss. Nothing more than a little stalking and stuff, and then I did see the new wrasse wiggle into the sandbed. Anyway, thought I'd share some pics! :)

That's at the store - wanted to get a pic in case it dove straight into the sand at home lol.

And last but not least, just a decent pic of my melanurus for no real reason (well I guess this IS the wrasse lovers thread), lol.

He was showing off, but no aggression that I could see.
