The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Well, I was in the water for about an hour this morning and I saw what I believe we're a Surge Wrasse and a possibly an Elegant Coris Wrasse. Beautiful fishes! Unfortunately the phone I was using for pictures didn't keep the pics I took...
I’m behind. Where are you?!

I’m going to Roatan in a few months and they have some of my favorite wrasse.

Where on Roatan are you going? My best friend runs a dive resort there!
I haven’t actually booked anything other than the flight. Was thinking of staying at a dive resort so if you have a recommendation I’d love to hear it.

https://www.inaturalist.org/guides/8456Here’s a great guide for the fish!
Wedgetail Trigger, Yellow Striped Goatfish, and Barred Tidepool Goby were definitely seen. The wrasses I'm still thinking at least one was a Surge Wrasse, the other im not sure on. At first I thought it was a Lunare but I didn't think they're around these parts.

Well, my Carpenter’s has always had some gorgeous colours considering he gets pushed around a ton by the Rubricaudalis and Fairies.
Today I finally discovered why he had such amazing colours. Turns out when the lights are dimming he gets into a full blown display and goes shoving everyone else around!
All the younger flashers submit to him quite quickly however the aquamarinus stands up to him which is impressive to watch as he displays.
I am not impressed with this however you can see his fins are up and he’s in display even though it’s just his tail. Welcome to the reality of getting wrasse photos in display. Some play well with you like my Rubricaudalis others just hate you.

To make up for that nightmare photo, here’s one wrasse I almost never photograph! Look at those golden flecks she’s gaining as a transitioning male. Since removing the jade she’s (he?) truly progressed in her (his?) transition. Hopefully soon this fella will be one of those many gorgeous males you see when you search Gold Nuggets up.

I am addicted to this wrasse, I’d love a couple females to add to the two males but finding males alone has been a pain.

It’s absolutely stunning!!

The beauty of this Rhomboid makes me want another Wrasse so bad, lol.

Think a Lineatus would go well with the Rhomboid and a Linespot?
