He definitely is, LOL. He jumped on me once when I was doing tank maintenance... I heard the splash and his fins flapping (sounded like a bee buzzing, LOL!). Don't ask me how I did it, but on instinct (I didn't have time to think) I stuck my hands out and caught him in mid-air. I put him back in and thankfully he has never done it again.

Im thinking about getting a pink streaked wrasse. Any info? Looking into wrasses that will do good in a 40 gallon tank, besides possum wrasses. Thanks

That would be a good choice. Most paracheilinus species would be suitable as well. Regardless, the tank MUST be completely covered.

Its covered. I use to have a mccoskers flasher wrasse and a sunrise dottyback! Lol

How has he been with your other wrasses? I just upgraded to a tank with the same dimensions as yours and plan on adding a few more fairy and flashers. I had been considering one of these but recall hearing that they could be a little aggressive.

Pink streaked would be a good choice. Mine just cruises around with my pygmy possum wrasse in and out of caves and overhangs all day long. and in a house full of fish, my little gizmo is a close number two on my top 5.

This is our second rubrisquamis. Once full grown, they can sometimes be a bit aggressive. We had some aggression issues with our first male after he matured into a full-grown super male, but putting him in "time out" for a month or so, mellowed him out completely. Overall, they have great personalities. If you decide on one, find a young male and add him last so that he starts out low in the social order.

Thanks for the tip. It's funny how a little timeout can provide a needed attitude adjustment. My lineatus used to rule my tank and was particularly a bugger when it came to my rhomboid. He found his way into my overflow and it took a few days to get him out. During that time my mystery wrasse took over and the lineatus has been a puppy dog ever since.

I personally love wrasse and covered quite a few of them in my new book on Nano Reefs, but since I maintain a 20 and a 10 Nano ... except for a Possum, Tanaka, there is no much choice for me given I have other fish in the 20, but none in the 10 yet ... although I have a Coral Croucher on order which is being acclimated at the LFS. I went to check on it yesterday, and it did NOT look good a all ... hanging in a strange position, gaping motions from time to time, and not eating ... does not bode well .. so I may not get it if it is still in that shape tomorrow... maybe will go for a Possum but will have to put a cover over the tank ...

Awesome tank, if I may ask do you use a Calcium reactor?
What about GFO and Carbon, ZEO or Biopellets.

I have my Lineatus super male coming tomorrow, can't wait.
