Hunter is definitely better to answer the question on Leopards. However, in general they get along as long as there is only one male in the tank. Multiple males, even of different species, may not end well. You may know this already, but M. choati is the most sensitive/difficult of all of the Leopards.

How well do Macropharyingodon mix? I will be upgrading to a 190g when I move (in the next year or two). Will a meleagris and a choati have enough space in there not to kick each other around?

They should be fine together in a tank that size. As Marshall mentioned, just one male though, and Choati's can be pretty sensetive. A few months back Reefbuilders did an interesting article on acclimating Choati's for greater success.

They typically mix quite well if they're both females. Mixing Macropharyngodon males of different species is a crap-shoot.

and Choati's can be pretty sensetive.

Extremely sensitive; by far the most difficult leopard. It's one I haven't even bothered to attempt personally.

Do u guys use prazi on ur wrasses!
I've had a few wrasses disappear into the sand never to be seen again including a pair of prized potters wrasses that where eating mysis!
More recently I had a leopard just die after 1 day and a yellow tail tamrin who was added the same day and was out picking on rocks all day when I first put him in then disappeared that was last Sunday

I wouldn't give up on the Tamarin yet, sometimes they'll show up even weeks later. I treat all my fish with prazi before they go to the display.

Greenstreet. 1 is that also a Mystery along with the Melanarus in the pic as well on the bottom?...you mentioned you tried Tamarins and Leopards..I wouldn't mix them in with that bunch...especially the Mystery. I had a sixline(same family) and a Melanarus ...they both were terrors....peace has been restored in my tank for over a year now just keeping Tamarins, Leopards and a female Richmond.

I never had a problem with them together I still have a leopard also everyone plays nice the last tamarin I had I think some thing was wrong and I did not QT long enough. Thank you for the heads up.

My wrasse,s don't hide. I'm not trying to say that Mike is wrong but I don't have that problem. The tamarin was all over the tank none of my other wrasse would trouble him I think my problem was I did not QT long enough.

I transferred to it from my previous tank a 3.5" super male C. earlei, a once M/F pair of P. octotaenia which are now two 3" males (not trying to kill each other - yet) a young male 3" C. pylei, a young male 2.5" C. cf. lanceolotus and a male P. ventralis. Yesterday I added a 3" Bodanius opercularis. I have in qt a small pair of C. johnsoni which I want to put in the 340. So far all of the fish in the 340 get along, lots of flashing in the evening and some chasing, but nothing super aggressive. Do you foresee any issues with the johnsoni being added to the mix? My only concern is that they are so much smaller than everything else. Even the lanceolotus is twice the size o the female johnsoni. I'd hate to put them in and see them get bullied.

I am betting them being on the smaller side will actually help. Just use an acclimation box when they are ready to go into the DT and monitor for at least a day or two. If you don't see any signs of aggression from any established wrasses, you are good to go. Otherwise, you will need to keep them in there longer and see if the aggression subsides. My money is on there not being any issues though.

I'm looking for a wrasse to eradicate my collonista snail infestation.. someone told me a tail spot / hoeven has done the trick for them. Anyone else have any input? I figured that most wrasse in the Halichoeres family would be a good bet. But my other issue is my sandbed is only around 1-1.5 inches! Don't want an unhappy wrasse... I wish a rhomboid would take them out!

I have a big fat melanurus male and he chases my smaller solar wrasse around my 65 but I never see him actually hit or hurt him.

They are in a 65 right now but I am looking to go much bigger. Like 180ish

Do you think if I go bigger the melanurus will leave the solar wrasse alone?
