I have question about the Qt and wrasse ,is the wrasse sensitive to seachem copper ? I start dosing copper in my qt and i didn't even reach the recommend dose and my leapard looking not good . ?and advice

Yes, and personally I won't use copper with wrasses. I'd do a water change and run cuprisorb.

That's an artifact of them being cleaner wrasses and not the prazi, unfortunately.

My message on cleaner wrasses is to simply avoid them. ;)

What species? If they were phthirophagus (Hawaiian), that would be the expected outcome. :(

Thank you Paul! I was pretty sure that was the case, but I wanted to make sure. I just thought of something else, does it matter what size I buy, I would like to start with the smallest possible, so I can watch them grow, but I want to give them the best chance of survival possible! Thank you!!!

We have a male melanarus about 5 inches and we added a long fin fairy and three mealgris leopards after him. He didn't even care. When we have added different species of wrasse we had no problem in either tank. The only time we had some aggression, mostly chasing and was better after a few days was between red head solon fairy and a blue sided wrasse. Of course you never know.

I have a McCosker's Flasher Wrasse. I need to get him out of my DT to quarantine him. He immediately darts into the rocks the second my hand is within 18" of him. What is the preferred method of catching Wrasses? I will dismantle the rock if that is the only choice.

I used eggcrate to cut the tank size down earlier to catch a cf pylei.

It might just be the blue light, but I see one rubrimarginatus and one pylei.

+1 to the Ids. I just traded in a cf pylei earlier due to the fact the ONLY wrasse it wouldn't harass and pick on is my pink margin (c Rubmarginatus) which is bigger. Beautiful but not worth the trouble.

Now considering a pylei doesn't play well with others, would this be a bad wrasse for someone that has 1 of the line wrasses considering they don't mix well frequently with others either?

I wasn't going that route, their personalities got my mind a wandering.

Some wrasses don't play nice like a Pylie and Scott's and have heard so many people say they have battered other wrasses to death. Maybe they work well in a very large system but I had made a list of wrasses I wanted down the line and these were on the not have list for me. I had found an article that listed how each species were ok to mingle and others not so much.

A desireable fairy wrasse. Very similar to a bathyphilus. A great score if you can get one.

I have had my flame for 6-8 month and originally purchased her with a male who ended up dying in QT. She has shown no signs of turning male, and want a male flame (the females are boring), should I remove her and purchase a male. Why do you generally recommend avoiding pairs in reference to the rhomboid and linetatus? And also any preference on which one to add before the other?

In most cases females will transition into males. When this happens aggression between males can get pretty bad, often with one being forced into near constant hiding, which ultimately leads to it's demise.

If you give the female flame more time she should transition, but if you lack the patience( I can relate, I usually go with males given the choice) then take the female out and get a male.

Between rhomboidalis and lineatus, I suggest getting the rhomboid in first.
