LA follows Kuiter's listings pretty closely, as far as species, though not his proposed genera. He recognizes three species for marginatus. Marginatus, lamarii, and annularis. His is based on geography and slight color differences in males, though I see most of those differences as being related to photography and not significant differences between the specimens.

Though Kuiter has always been known as a "splitter", so that's not too surprising to me.

I would say about 75g.

I decided to give liveaquaria another chance ( had credit anyway), but decided to go with meleagris.
Got 4 in quarantine for 2 days.
All 4 seemed mildly interested in tigger pods, cyclop-eeze ( or what passes for it these days), roe, and mysis.
Fed 4 light feedings yesterday.
If I can get a little better feeding response today, I'll probably start prazi pro tomorrow.
One of the leopards sure is lighter color than the others.

Just a bit younger, and more of the juvi coloration.
All 4 look good though. If they're all eating at this point, you should do fine with them.

Ended up getting the potter's yesterday. Acclimation and social acclimation went very well. I released him last night when lights went off and here he/she(?) is this morning.

I was looking for the red mark on the front of the dorsal fin and it doesn't appear red, but more orange than the rest. Possibly transitioning to male?

Social acclimation box. I released this one after lights out so he could find a spot in the sand while everyone was already sleeping. There was no interest shown at all while in the social acclimation box, otherwise he would have stayed in it. Quarantine is recommended with all new fish, however I don't do it. It's not necessarily by choice, but another tank even temporary would land me in trouble... don't ask. Lol. The guy I purchase from does have his tanks treated with cupramine which helps, but is not a "cure all". Everytime I add a fish I take that risk. From what I understand, leopards are very susceptible to internal parasites and something like prazipro may be highly recommended.

Picked up 3 blue star leopards and a small potter's wrasse from LA for father's day.

Had a wedding so was away from home for about 6 hours yesterday, when I came home I noticed the potter's laying on the bottom. Kept an eye on him- looked to be a lost cause and I was right.

Very frustrating. All fish were eating mysis, brine and LRS. Can only think because he was so small I didn't get him enough food. Had fed 5-6 times a day. Keeping fingers crossed on the blue stars.

Gonna bring back some memories haha I'm still on potters #1 and had her for somewhere close to 2-3 years i forget exactly how long but she was the first fish in and has been the longest surviving fish out off anything I have added so far, never had a single hiccup she ate from day one and I never QT or treated for disease. Maybe I'm lucky who knows but she's still going strong after all this time and one tank crash later. Here's some pictures, First day in the tank October 27, 2013

So is the Meleagris furthest to the left, the one that's presumably the youngest due to the lack of prominent markings? I thought I read that several posts back but wanted to confirm

They all have the black markings, but it's the one on the lower right that is lightest in color that I was referring to and assumed that was what evolved was too.

Thanks for clarification. My Meleagris has a light, almost translucent dorsal fin and the markings on one side appear lighter, similar to the one furthest to the left in your photo. I was just curious if there was any correlation to it's age being the culprit for the less striking appearance or if something else is going on.

She seems healthy and eats a great variety of foods such as LRS Reef Frenzy, LRS Fish Eggs, Mysis, NLS pellets along with live Mysid Shrimp, Amphipods and Blackworms from a local aquaculture facility. Basically anything I put in the tank she will eat... The tank is loaded with pods for her to snack on between feedings as well.

With that being said, what would cause her markings on one side to be less opaque?
