How fast does Yellow Coris Wrasse grow?

I am looking at the one I picked up yesterday, and it just dawned on me how small he is compared to my other fish. he's smaller than my clowns. I am sure he can hold his own in the tank, but I am not risking it. If they're slow growers, he'll be in QT for a while until he gets a bit bigger

I would say that they grow at an average rate, not too fast, not too slow.

Oh I forgot to ask...do I just probe the sand with a second net or something? Or my finger? Thanks!

I usually use my finger. Another object could be used, just nothing sharp that would possibly injure the fish. Just be careful not to jump when he comes bolting out and break any coral or anything. I've done that before. I knew he was coming out, but it was surprising and I flinched and nudged against an acro... snap goes months and months of growth. Lol

Thanks. I was hoping they would. A very pretty, but very battered one came in today. I was thinking of picking it up today. It's mouth was injured and he had a light colored patch on his side beside his gills. They are willing to let me have it for an extra low price. We fed it done frozen and and pellet and it ate both, pretty active. I'll try to get photos and post in appropriate thread.

Guess who finally got the Checkerboard out yesterday? It took a while, but we got him and brought him to the fish store. :)

Congrats! I'm glad to hear it's eating well and hope it heals nicely. :)

Well I got the carpenters wrasse. He seems to developed a large white spot at the back of his body and one near the front of the fin on his back.

Any help would be appreciated in getting him in better shape.

That looks like physical damage from scraping something. As long as it's not fuzzy it should heal on it's own. If you are concerned though, treating with an antibacterial in qt will resolve any infection.

Thank you. Possibly scraped on the rocks when they got him out of the tank. That makes sense
