The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

I actually bought 2 at that price but the second one jumped while being netted and ended up getting a bacterial infection that took it, I figured at that price it was still worth the risk.

Dang. Absolutely! Very nice score.

I would concur you can even still see the spot near the caudal fin. In general I always try to buy females though I made an exception with my recent Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis purchase.

just showing off my little girl. I just put her in the tank.. few minutes of being shy and now she's zipping around owning the 75g already

I think mine is definitely a male. Certainly not as vibrant as that male you posted. Not the greatest pictures, but what do you think?

I'd say male but I'm not the wrasse pro yet. Very pretty fish!

Well, my new potter's was found dead this morning. Day 2 during prazipro treatment. It seems like these potter's are the "hippo" tangs of stress. Shipping is so brutal on them. Hopefully the supplier will honor the request of adding a layer of sand to their shipping bags. One of the 3 that was dead was literally the largest male potter's I've seen. Sad to see.

Sorry to hear Paul; looked promising in the photos.

Thanks evolved. He was a nice looking specimen. I guess treatment was not swift enough. I have a little less finicky and slot smaller social fairy I added today. No aggression shown ever in social acclimation, but now that I disturbed the tank a little fragging off an acro, my Midas blenny has went a little jerk. He's fed up with these wrasse and feeling alpha today. Hopefully that ends soon. I like him but won't mind an all wrasse tank.

Edit: I realize he is not a wrasse, but there are wrasse in the video. That counts here right? Lol

Midas can be jerks sometimes ...

Mine seems all too tempted by any wrasse who swims immediately below-and-in-front of 'im, and will occasionally nip a dorsal. Wrasses are smart though, and they've learned just how far away they need to stay . . .
