Have no intent of purchasing but found very little information on this fish. Why is it marked as difficult? Has anyone kept one and have some information on them. Again just for curiosity, what happens on a Sunday morning [emoji23]

It's marked difficult due to the feeding requirements. It's a mutated indigo dottyback x unknown wrasse hybrid, and therefore requires fish brains to survive.

This may not be a completely fair question, but would anyone want to hazard a guess as to my chances of success with adding a Quoyi parrot to a 300 with large male Melanurus, medium Timor, and large Rose Margin, and a half dozen assorted tangs? I have access to one, but want to make as sure as I can that I'm not dooming the poor guy to certain death.

None of your current fish will present any problems for the qouyi.

IME they aren't difficult at all. They do quickly lose the bright coloration and may nip at sps.

ok guys/gals after a lot of debate on what direction to take the new build I have decided on a wrasse dominate system! so excited
so i wanted to run my list by you fellow wrasses lovers and get feedback.

I used the chart and other info provided by @evolved put together thank you once again!!

ok some of the more expensive wrasse have been left off the list. I am sure there your favs. too like the golden Rhomboid & Lineatus if I can find some sweet deals on them for sure I will add them. all fish will have to be shipped in as there is no LFS within 100's of miles each way ...boo sucks when trying to find that colorful fish you never know what you will get. :/ they those not so good shippers.

tank is a red sea reefer 750XXL 200 gal total. skimmer ,UV, ATS and fuge if the ATS does not out compete it
6'x2 x 2 or 71" X 23.6 x25.6

I am having hard time on the fairy wrasses.

what is everyone thoughts on adding a peaceful oval shaped tang to the list. I am not sure I was going for the small to med fish look but I finally have a large tank again and do love tangs. I am thinking hippo or naso. I know the naso will out grow the tank in a few years ( 3-5) but I do have a buddy with a very large tank that said he would take it once it out grows my system.

so I will be putting a yellowfin flasher, mccoskers wrasse and a linespot flasher through QT together tomorrow and then acclimating them in a box in the DT so probably 3-4 days after QT.

For the acclimation box, mine is 14x10x10 and the bottom is black. How many PVC tubbings do you suggest I put in there and which are the best like just regular straight ones or do they like 90 turns?

Also I dont need sand in a tub for these in the acclimation box or QT right?

Dont need sand for flasher wrasses :)

I was 99% sure I didnt need sand, but wanted to make sure.

Okay thanks! I have some t's for the QT along with straight and 90s. I may just put a couple of ts and 2 90's in the acclimation once theyre done QT

Was looking at a melanarus wrasse to hopefully get rid of a shrimp problem I am having and add some more fish to my tank. The owner of my lfs said he didn’t have a melanarus but he had a bluehead that would do the trick and wouldn’t bother my pair of clowns. It’s my first wrasse and so far he doesn’t seem to pay attention to the clowns at all. I’d really hate to lose one of them and can move him into my my other tank that is a more aggressive rounded tank.

My new and first ever wrasse. Was listed as a Tom...something fairy wrasse. Absolutely love him in the tank. Definitely want to get a leopard in the future and possibly one more. Idk about the third but we shall see.

Any one here able to help out on the name? If not no big deal.

Bluehead meaning Thalassoma bifasciatum? To be blunt, you don't want that fish in there if that's what it is.

Males of this species are very difficult to keep, for reasons not well understood. Females are enough of a challenge on their own. Also not a species likely to transition in captivity.

It'll probably be okay in a tank like that, but might still be too aggressive for the tankmates. It's a pretty nasty species for temperament.

Do they hide a lot because a couple hours ago he was out swimming freely and now he’s nowhere to be found and I’m fairly certain my grouper didn’t eat him it wouldn’t been a heck of a feat to eat something as long as himself. I have a deep sandbed

Certainly could be hiding, being new to a tank. Thalassoma don't bury in the sand, however.

update was able to donate the lunare wrasse world wide coral, their customer service is exceptional they understood the situation and were able to give it a home, I then picked up a mckoskers flasher
