What is the difference between a yellow coris wrasse and a yellow and purple coris wrasse?

They're two different species.
Geographically, chrysus is found in and east of Indonesia, whereas leucoxanthus is found to the west of Indonesia. Their ranges do not really overlap.
Chrysus is all yellow in appearance; leucoxanthus coloration is pretty split in half - yellow the top half, and white on the bottom.
Behavior, size, and temperments are equivalent.

Good. I remember when I bought my yellow coris it was in a mixed tank as haliocoris species. This wholesaler mixes all of them so I wanted to be 100% sure. Mine is fully yellow. Seems like an easy way to buy the wrong fish but he sells most fish fairly cheap because all goes into mixed tanks.

This guy, Temmincki Fairy wrasse, kinda grow on me. Send to me as a mistake, suppose to be a Pintail Fairy, which she is nothing of the kind. One of these day I am going to set up my camera and get a picture of him flashing. Dark almost black with iridescent blue and pale whitish patch on body. Not a bad looking wrasse when he flashing.

Definitely not a pintail lol. After initial bumming I wouldn’t mind having that fish. Beautiful and breaks up the usual fairy wrasse colors

So I've wondered for awhile if there's something wrong with my c. rubrimarginatus. It's almost like his gill plates are too big for him. Is he still just too skinny? He was super thin when I got him in July.

I almost managed to get all my wrasses in one pic.

No stringy poop that I have noticed in QT or since. He eats well and it always active. I'll try to fatten him up, I'm sure no one will complain about extra food.

Yeah, that's really emaciated. Metro+focus in the food wouldn't hurt.

Hey guys, question time.

My Mccoskeri has been in the tank for about 5 months now and has done perfectly fine, until a few days ago. I added a small azure damsel to the tank last Friday and since then he has been acting a bit strange. Usually he's first to come out when the lights come on. For the last few days however, it has easily been 3 - 4 hours after the lights came on that he emerged from his sleeping spot. Today he finally emerged from his sleeping spot, almost 6 hours after the lights came on. In addition to that, he goes into hiding for 1 or 2 hours at completely random moments throughout the day.

Neither the damsel or any of my other fish are acting aggressive. I work from home, so I have eyes on the tank all day long. He doesn't have any outside damage, hasn't lost color and still eats fine.

Any ideas what's going on? Perhaps just stress from the newest addition?

New additions can definitely throw off dynamics. If there's truly no bullying or intimidation happening, things should settle out within a couple weeks.

I may be getting a male leopard wrasse given to me. What makes them difficult to care for? Its already been through a 30 day QT and his been in this guys tank for like another month after that. I definitely have a well established copepod and arthropod population in my tank already. Just trying to figure out what makes them hard to care for before I agree to take it.

It's all the hurdles which that one has already crossed. There's not much difficulty from that point forward. So long as your tank is large enough and the tankmates are suitable, it's easy from there.

2x Mocha Clowns
1x Purple Firefish
1x Royal Gramma
1x Blue Green Chromis
1x Chocolate Tang
1x Tomini Tang
1x Powder Brown Tang

My DT has been fallow for 86 days and all fish have been in QT.

1x Powder Brown Tang

Any of the flashers or fairies if you have sand leapords are a good choice

Fairy or Flasher wrasses would be great. Look at @evolved thread on reef safe wrasses and fairy wrasses.
soecifucally I recommended a pair or trio Leopard Wrasse, a few Flasher wrasse, (Yellowfin, McCosker, and Diamond tail or flashers) there are many fairy wrasses to choose from. Your pocketbook is the limit.
I also love the China Tamarin wrasse.
While the experts recommended against keep Leopards and Tamarin in pair or trio, I find, so far, mine seem to do great is group with these two genus.
Flasher and Fairy best keep as singleton.
