I really don't think it affects them. The light isn't shining directly in the tank right? It is more of an ambient light from your algae scrubber?

The main reason I’ve never touched alcohol in my entire life is because I was scared of becoming addicted. My family drinks heavily, and I never wanted to become like that.

There is a component of heredity you should not ignore. Epigenetic evidence supports addiction as a passed through trait. Not trying to kill your buzz but alcohol is a pathway to addiction for many individuals. My family history includes a closet alcoholic grandfather. I drank to be drunk. After a few years of that my best friends told me to quite or they would no longer be my friends. I was a happy drunk but very obnoxious. There was a spiritual component to my stopping drinking for good. I prayed for God to take the desire away and replace it with good things. He did and He has! You are literally killing brain cells to get the buzz. Many of my friends and family can attest to the fact that I need all my remaining brain cells to function lol!

Honestly, my advice is stay the course because you are not missing anything beneficial to your health or life and relationships. There is a lot of scientific evidence to back up my claims and experience. My Dad started research that supports what I am telling you in the 1950's. Today his research has developed into over 400 studies worldwide that support his early conclusions. Just my two cents.

I know this might not be a popular opinion but there it is. Wish you all your best life!

This sump tumbles it really well. I just wish it was 4x the size. Especially as this skimmer still isn't working well

You have to have that dumb mesh to prevent the cheato from getting near the input which would instantly TANK the skimmer’s performance.

But the mesh itself ruins the skimmer. Pick your poison or demon.
