Thinking about getting a anenome

So i was playing in my head with a idea for my 30gal tank i already have a few corals in my tank that i am quiet fond of but i have been playing with the idea of getting a Anenome for my Clowns since they keep trying to host my Duncan and alveopora i am just a tiny bit scared of introducing in a soon 1 year old ish tank with triving corals with some aiptasia hick ups a anenome any advice if thats a skip or nah? Dont wanna lose my corals by a touchy feely anenome if it decides to go and move around

Aside from that, if you're worried about the nem wandering and damaging corals, I'd skip it.

I assume your talking about bubble tips. I no longer keep them with coral. It's not worth the risk IMO

Ha. My RBTA has decided its new spot is on the side of the overflow box at the very top of the tank.

I never worried about it damaging corals, but I'm just PO because its never stayed put.

I'm going to add a few rock flower nems, and probably steer clear of bubble tips.

Also going to look for a large duncan colony, and MAYBE my clowns will host that.

That's an expensive first nem. Also keep in mind adding a nem doesn't guarantee your clowns will host in it.

Well depends on the sunburst i wanna get i could get a sunburst for 30euros OR sunburst rainbow for 100€ish or a sunburst premium for 140€ i would probely go for the 30 bucks version

Those are very low prices for those nems.

I guess here in germany they are not that desired unlike the copper bta that goes around for 90€ even for small sizes and goes up to 130

Do you have coralline growing in your tank? If you do, and it's growly rapidly, then your tank is ready to house an anemone.

Regarding moving, some move and some don't. But always be prepared to move your coral out of the way--just in case--when the anemone inevitably starts to move. If you don't want to deal with this, then an anemone might not be for you.

My Frogspawn actually hosts my clowns. I have a pretty big duncan and an anemone and the clowns could care less about them. I thought I wanted an anemone too, but honestly, I think they are over hyped. I love my rock flowers but they love to hide in the shade.

Smaller space something to consider.
You mentioned you have a couple of corals that you are fond of and do not want to harm them.

1 + 1 = 2 which to me suggests you are not willing to accept the risk of harming your existing corals.

Back to the equation above if you are concerned with the loss of a coral then you answered your own question in my opinion. The clowns are fine in a Duncan or Alveopora since they will let it happen.

As noted above there is no guarantee that the clown fish will take to the anemone or that the anemone will allow it. I forget which one allows what. Another thing to consider is what happens today may not apply down the road. Things change like coral growth, flow, feeding habits, animal attitude, weather, spawning, nutrients, and more. We don't know why they decide to move or at least I don't. Nor do we, or I again, know why they clone / split.

You start with one, then end up with two. Two is an even number so you have three, then four, and before you know it your display looks like the Star Trek "The Trouble with Tribbles" episode. You have too many and can't give them away fast enough. Don't get caught up in the social media side hustle sparkle that you can sell them because it isn't that easy.

TL; DR - my point is that if you have a concern then the answer is no. Dedicated species tank would be great if you have room. One leads to two, two to three, and so on if we are being honest. This is what happened to us. I've lost a couple of SPS colonies because they decided to move.

I've also had to do two emergency full water changes when I had a bunch and they decided to spawn. That wasn't fun.

I bought a TINY quarter size BTA for my 32 gallon to hold me off as the main tank matured. It’s been ~6 months now and I’m ready to start moving coral frags to the smaller tank as the main display is overflowing.

Before I can, I now have to figure out how to remove 6 BTAs some that when open are 6-7” and i rarely feed them from the 32gallon. I gave one away last week only to discover another divided the same day so I'm net no change. I pretty much killed another trying to get it out. I flushed away 3/4s of the nem and its foot - sadly figured I killed it which I did not want to do. I now just have a smaller nem :-(

Point being, be prepared. They can take over and if you’re worried about corals….. Again I’ve only moved some things like Zoas. I have to vacate all the BTAs to start moving expensive and touchy frags such as torches, maybe a clam etc.

The clown fish want nothing to do with the BTAs and both were hosting in a nem before being moved to the small tank. I guess they got spoiled with the Ritteri in the other tank and are too stuck up for a BTA, but their tank mates said more than two is a crowd so they had to move into the 32gallon some 9 months ago

Not trying to discourage you from a BTA nem. Just setting expectations that under excellent conditions they will grow and divide like crazy and under poor conditions they also divide and move around like crazy. Shoot for ‘so so’ conditions I guess. That is if you get an aquacultured one anyway
