This is So Not Cool AOL.com Article - Caught on video: Scuba diver assaulted underwater. I understand this is an isolated incident but this will kill it for the rest of us. What your Thoughts??? :yell:

Makes you wonder if that person was collecting legally... The article didn't specify and I assume it's early on in the investigation so that may not even be known.

Sea Shepard is borderline terrorist group. This is sponsored by sea Shepard and it was a sea Shepard diver that had her mouth piece removed. These divers were doing everything right, Hand collecting, no chemicals, etc, etc. This is either a setup by sea Shepard or those divers have been repeatedly hassled by sea Shepard. They are absolutely relentless and borderline terrorist.

NO he wasn't doing anything illegal. He was working and his job is to collect fish for the aquarium trade. He was collecting in a legalized area. He had a legal right to be there!! He was being harassed by extremist! Extremist acting on their own personal moral issues!! They are claiming a sustainability issue is at hand. But they have NO scientific facts to back up their claims. And actually it is just the opposite of what they claim. These extremist are acting purely from their OWN MORAL BELIEFS!! Pushing these beliefs upon others! Ugh!!

Yeah I have heard that about those guys but getting violent like that in an under water situation is totally and utterly uncalled for diving is already a life and death dance as it is with out a violent out burst to boot. Whether right or wrong what they were collecting settle the problem on land.

Let's see who she accuses of attacking her!! Funny how she didn't mention his/her name since she says she knows who it is!!! Funny how this would be attacker hasn't been arrested! Think about it please! If someone did this to you would you not name them right away and press charges?
I believe this to be just one more ruse of The Sea Shepard's. I believe this was a STAGED!! These employees and sympathizers of The Sea Shepard have tried before, using like methods to further their agendas. Like using NEWSY to spread the lies? Come on!! Why not really go public? NEWSY is the Enquire of the net!

Where are you getting the information that she knows or is able to ID the person that ripped out her, a 53 yr old women's mouth piece in 50 ft of water? From what I read the police are actively investigating the incident, as well they should regardless of what transpired prior the filming of the incident.
It's impossible to make out the ID of the diver if you do not know them prior to the incident.

Listen to the NEWSY report again! Rene Umberger states she believes she knows who her attacker is and plans on pressing charges. Talk about dramatizing it up! She has over 10.000 hours of diving experience, she's in 30-50 feet of water, and I'm to believe she was in any real danger?

Well it's really going to be unfortunate when someone dies. Again there is no justification for forcefully removing another divers mouth piece regardless, unless your fighting for your life against an on going assault, but that is not the case. The actions of the diver that did remove her regulator only belittles his cause. And now they're talking about bang sticks, this media hysteria following the incident is going to get someone killed. Cooler heads need to prevail.

To me, whoever pulled her mouthpiece off should be charged with attempted murder, regardless of the circumstances. What other outcome could he have been after?
