Thoughts on a Nikon D-50?

I found a Nikon D50 for sale and thought it might be a good candidate for tank pictures. Does anyone have any experience with this camera? I would buy a macro lense as well for it to take the up close shots. It would be a universal camera (I.E pictures of the family and random pictures of the tank) that would be used maybe a few times a month.
