Looked intersting to me until I saw what parameters it tested. If the range of parameters could be expanded, id be very interested.

This reminds me of the MindStream or am I off base?

It needs a lot to be a viable product, it doesn't test much, I like the fact that the unit takes different inserts so the testing can be improved without buying new equipment but It also tests every 15 minutes which is literally 96 times too often, once every 24 hours would be more than enough for practically any tank. So for this to even be worth looking at I'd want programmable test timing and I'd want to see them add nitrate and alkaline tests to the one's they have/have in development.

More parameters would be a huge boost for viability for sure. It'll be interesting to see what they roll out after the beta process.

Didn’t LaMotte go out of business during COVID? Did someone resurrect them?
No they didn’t go bankrupt during Covid. Instead, Lamotte took out a PPP loan for $2.03M from Citizen’s Bank in May 2020 (helped them retain 235 jobs) and likely benefited from the uptick in aquarium related spending during COVID. They subsequently invested $3.3M to build out a manufacturing facility in 2022 and to add 100 jobs:

Lamotte has not sold to Private Equity yet!

Watched the video but couldn't see the expected price of the monthly replacement disks.
If they are really aiming to create a continuous testing trend as they described, I hope they provide a way to read the results directly from the device (rest API) so it is compatible with other systems and don't limit the functionality or force the users to manually open the app to export the values.

Saltwater Aquarium has this new tester posted with the Aquaspin tester in a newsletter they just sent out (perhaps because they are similar concepts). Those cartridges for the aquaspin are $399 for a box of 50. Hoping they are a bit cheaper than that if they are running tests every 15 minutes.

Alkalinity would be a huge pro to me. The overall form factor is what caught my eye.

If it really ends up being that much for cartridges, i dont see how this product would do well

Im not sure if they were doing this pre covid, but it seems they mainly or to a large extent do pool products now.

The more interesting parameters is where Mindstream ran into difficulty. I would not hold my breath. They are much more difficult.

Few people measure O2, though I think it would be interesting to see O2 24/7 on my system, and how it changed.

Almost no one has an ongoing need to measure ammonia, though again some interesting experiments might be available if one wanted to. The Seachem alert badge is adequate for most purposes.

For an ordinary reef tank, I see no need for it.

Agreed. It seems weird to me they are trying to bring it to market and advertising those parameters specifically. I dont know what need they are trying to fill especially at potential price point.

You'd think being in the industry as long as they are, they'd have used more useful parameters - turned the youtube video off after they listed them. I dont care what my potassium readings are. Give me Nitrate, phosphate, alk and mag.
