That's one thing we can agree on!I'm sure it will be expensive

Although programmability and having everything linked can be great, but this is there first reef light, better to go with a light that has been in the hobby for a few years. With that said I think they will be learning the ropes for their first reef light.Hopefully they put out a good product at a reasonable price. I'm sure it will have all sorts of bells and whistles. However I'd trust a company who just does lights over programmability.
$870 for 1st gen, you can pick up two Radion XR15 G5 Blue LED Light Fixtures for that price. or even a single Radion XR30 G5 Blue LED Light Fixture. I'm really ready to see why its priced so high.$870. 1st gen. Unfortunately, I will pass. What happened to products getting cheaper as tech matured?
As a new product, I would have hoped they brought something to the table like a true innovation, new design, etc to propell the hobby forward but instead this just seems like a pure money grab "everyone else makes money off LEDs, lets get in on it without brining anything uniqie to the table".
That would be a great feature! If these can ditch the power bricks and plug straight into the energy bar, I will be all over them.
Saw these at RAP this weekend and they look good. The 24x30 coverage is the rating for SPS heavy tanks. The rep I spoke with stated 36x30 for LPS and softies and they can punch down just as deep. They’re light for their size and about an inch larger on all four sides than the xr30’s so they have some decent coverage (pretty similar in size to the arctic t247 but more robust). The price includes a diffuser as well.
Although Neptune doesn’t have an in-house mounting solution aside from a hanging kit, they work with the gen5 and older style xr30 mounting brackets. They have dual independent fans so if one goes out, the other will still run while you can figure out what to do, but that’s kind of pointless if the light has to be sent in for repair. Unless of course they send a replacement similar to the trident.
They seem fairly easy to integrate into an existing tank and look to be programmed similar to the wav pump. You can set points throughout the day and adjust intensity at each point. It will also come with several presets to choose from.
Looking forward to trying them soon. Will probably have a client set them up on an 8x4x4 in the next few months so we can get some decent par measurements and really see what they’re capable of.
