I was going to have my welder friend make me a simple metal stand, but then I came across this system that would potentially let me do the project myself. It's called EZ Tube, and they sell aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, square tubes and connectors. My tank is 50 gallons, so somewhere around 500 pounds with sand/rock. This is their site https://eztube.com/product-category/tubes/

Does anyone have any experience/thoughts with this sort of material? Would also appreciate any advice on building a stand out of this, if it turns out to be strong enough. Thanks!

That is 1" x 1" tubing, so I would say that isn't going to work. 80/20 is an aluminum extrusion that you could totally do this with though.
